SOURCE: 2005 chevy silverado won;t start.

i had the same problem, and it turned out the coil pack was moulding inside wich stopped the spark all together, i ended up changing my coil pack and putting on new wires because the ends connected to the coil were very corroded and that cures the not running part just fine

Chevy 2005 silverado low oil pressure replaced oil sending unit and the cluster no noise from engine

Put a gage in the sending unit hole and see if the oil pump is weak, that is the best way to tell if the engine pump is ok.

At idle, intermittently, my 2005 chevy truck will show low oil pssr. oil level is fine. oil last changed within 2000 miles. suggestions?

Bad oil sensor. That's the first thing I would check. The oil pressure sensor could be going bad and setting off a bad light.

2005 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 5.3L low oil pressure comes on and there's a ticking noise. I changed my oil, oil filter and added rislone to help change the oil. I replaced the oil sending unit and my...

By your description, yes your problem may be in the oil pump, pickup screen. and/or clogged oil channels going into your valve cover /upper valve chamber. The ticking you hear is on the valve lifters and/or rocker arm.

Remove a valve cover, start the engine and see if an ample flow of oil is reaching the valves. Turn off the engine and inspect the oil inlet and return channels for sludge build up.

Not knowing your specifics I don't know where the oil sensor is located but it is probably accurate. Chev uses a side mount and internal oil pump if I recall. Either way yo may have to drop the oil pan to inspect and clean the pickup screen.

If the issue is in the oil pump it could be a damaged cam lever or pump chamber is clogged with grease-like debris. An old shade tree mechanic solution( which I have used successfully several times) was to warm the engine, shut it off, drain and save the new oil then refill with a gallon of diesel or kerosene to dissolve clogged oil chambers/channels. Run in place for 5-10 minutes or until the tapping goes away. Drain the kerosene and check for metal slivers, globs of sludge etc. This is at your own risk because if you have worn bearings that are only being held in place by sludge it could throw one. I suspect excessive sludge. This is a possible solution and if not resolved promptly, your valve guides will wear quickly and you'll be looking at an engine tear down.

The next step would be to remove the oil pump and inspect for clogs or wear. Note there may be a port directly on the pump which can be used to attach a meter for oil pressure at the pump--check your shop manual for your model. As an alternative you can add a half gallon directly to the oil and drive for 15+ miles but you will have to drain that oil/kerosene mixture and dispose of it. Good Luck.

2005 Chevy silverado oil pressure guage is on zero , oil level is fine, changed sending unit with no result,

check the filter,, if its bad enough your oil won't pass through it, making it look like your oil is full, but its not moving, Chevy's have whats known as a stepper motor also on the oil gauge,, whats bad about that is if thats gone bad, you have to replace the whole gauge cluster which last time I checked is 250.00

Recent repair catallitic converter and oil pump.. Oil sludge

both items replaced would have no effect on sludge problem...oil sludge is normally associated with cold running engine...or oil and filter thats not changed regularly enough.if you can touch the top of the radiator with your bare hand its too cold.....(when engines at full operating temp)look towards the thermostat as a first step.when you next change your oil,use an engine flush oil first.
