The alarm is engaged, and its not sounding, but it wont let anything in my car work. Wont turn over, none of the buttons on the remote work, I just get a red flashy light. I tried holding the button on the back of the alarm while turning the ignition, and that didn't work. I don't know how to bypass this thing!
Disconnect the negative battery connector
If the alarm is aftermarket I would remove it , I see this problem several times a month , take a test light and test for power at the starter signal wire while someone turns the key to crank this is the small gauge wire going into starter,if there is no power at this wire it will not crank ,if you momentarily apply voltage to the starter signal wire it will crank( also check starter signal fuse)(most alarm systems have a starter interrupt system ,and the aftermarket alarms fail after a few years) Alot of people believe there alarm is factory because it was there when they bought it new but dealer do add alarms that are aftermarket to please there insurance companies

needs looking at because it could be switch that allows it to turn on if sufficient gas is present ,or a problem with the clima compùter ,but to do anything you will need the special machine to empty the system then check things out so take to an authorised AC garage ,because these systems are a potential accident and you could lose a finger with frostbite in a matter of less than 2 seconds .therefore i will not tell you how to look for a soloution because of the dangerous nature of playing with air con
