You have to open the back window before the tailgate will go down ! In order to do this you have to push the button on the tailgate and raise the window then pull the handle and the tailgate will release!

SOURCE: Inside dash lights and tail

Check your tail light fuse . It is probably blown . You might have to repair your tail light circuit if the fuse blows when you replace it . The taillight fuse feeds the instrument and dash lights when you turn the headlight switch on . If the taillight fuses blown none of your instrument lights will work .

Why causes my park lights to remain on?

This could be caused by a number of things. Does the car have security.? Do the lights go out after a period of time? Some vehicles have a Sensor to turn the lights on and off. Some vehicles are equipped with daytime running lights. I do not think the latter is the problem. It could just be a problem with the light switch. Please comment and let us know if the lights stay or go off after a period of time

Dash lights do not work

Power is supplied to the instrument illumination by the "TAIL/ILLUM LIGHT" fuse, Fuse #4 (15 Amp) located in the dash fuse block under the left side of the dash. This fuse provides power for both the primary and secondary sides of the TAIL LIGHT relay. The Combination (Headlamp) switch provides a ground path for the primary circuit of the TAIL LIGHT relay. When the primary circuit is completed by the Combination switch, the secondary contacts close and provide power to the tail lamps as well as to all of the instrument illumination bulbs. The ground for the instrument illumination bulbs is a variable-resistance circuit which is controlled by the illumination controller. The final ground for both the combination switch and the illumination controller is Ground G302, located under the center console.

Inside dash lights and tail lights won't turn on in my '95 Isuzu Rodeo, what can I do?

My 97 Rodeo had the same problem. No Tail lights, no. Dash lights. There is also an annoying buzzer that goes with the set telling you the lights are on, there is no key in the ignition and your door is open. (you don't notice it when it's gone but you sure notice it when it's back)
The Fuse (taillight Illum) was good, The Light relay under the hood was good and all bulbs were good.
What fixed this problem was replacing the tail light relay which is located in a panel just to the left of the brake pedal also called the kick panel.Inside there are 3 relays. I replaced the one in the middle and got everything to work.
If you need to identify the relay you can put your hand over it and then turn the lights on and off. The correct relay should click. Mine was the middle one.
Hope this helps someone because it stumped me for months.

No turn signals, no tail lights and fuses are good

Replace the non-working tail light bulb. Try replacing the bulbs for the turn signals. If that doesn't work, replace the relay.
