After engaging clutch in 1st and 2nd gears the rpm spikes but car is sluggish. is there a way to adjust the clutch or should i replace it now before i have to pay for a tow. Camaro is a 3.4ltr v6 problem just started last night. i was in fifth gear about to exit highway on coming car sped up and then slowed down i had to brake hard and maneuver out of his way before i down shifted i press gas pedal to floor i was doing about 40mph while still in 5th i could smell the clutch.... any advice. this morning when i backed out of my driveway no problems. when i shifted to 1st it started to roll forward then rpm spiked to 4000rpm no power to wheels i shifted to 2nd began to get power to wheels at about 15mph it spiked again to 4000rpm i up-shifted to 3rd and regained power to wheels. so far only slipping in 1st and 2nd
It does sound like your clutch needs replacing. Adjusting the clutch may help but will not solve the problem. If the transmission has not been serviced for a long time it is a good idea to replace the transmission fluid, inspect the pressure plate. They may also start to wear.

I would advise caution in doing the procedures mentioned. Also to add, if you feel that the clutch has lost resistance when applying pressure you may want to check the clutch slave found at the end of the clutch line at the transmission.

I don't wanna laugh but the Vibration of the defrost is probaly wiggling a connection --most likely a harness ground on the engine bay firewall ---I'd check the grounds then the throttle position sensor connector connection and then the --Don't laugh distributor connections to inlude the engine to cab ground cable ---braided bare cable from the block to the firewall -
--the COIL pack may have a poor connection ---and I believe if correct on blazers the feed wire to the coil from the harness
is thick and pinkish that connection if loose describes the symptoms exactly
nothing works without a sufficient GOOD gound --loosen and retighten and ground wires-positive wires and connections ----GM is well known for wiring harness problems ---my 84 blazer
happened to share the same ground for the Blower motor and the distributor ---not anymore!
check your connections and those grounds --am I repeating myself ---and also continue to seek help in here if still persisting after that ---should only take 15 minutes to check it all
30 to fix most likely
hope this helps

hi, this sounds like your fan not cutting in at the right time, when you are in traffic it will get hot as the fan is not doing its job, but when you are driving the water is getting cooled by the air comming in through the grill, there might be a couple of things that will need checking, first one being the thermostat, as this is most likely thing to go wrong, then the fan switch on the radiator could be faulty, air in the system is another cause, try bleeding the system and se if you get air out and finally temp gauge switch, this could be a fauls possative, ie, nothing overheating just the switch giving wrong reading, theres a few things for you to be checking....hope this helps
