1993 Chevy Cavalier Z24 2.4 Liter Accelerator Stutter

I have a 1993 Chevy Cavalier Z24 2.4 Liter. When driving at a speed 20-50 mph and you press the accelerator, the car will slow down a bit, rpms will drop slightly and then it will "catch" and give a slight ****. Also the car has a low idle and sometimes will shake a fair amount as if it's trying to stay running. The car will also stall on occasion when braking to a stop or turn. I have replaced the crank and cam shaft sensors as well as all the spark plugs. My next option is to replace the ignition coil or fuel filter. What should I do? Thanks

Ignition coil is probably it but check all your wires vacuum hoses for cracks or rotting or kinks stopping air flow or disconnected lines and make sure you have no corrosion on battery terminals take time covering your basics before you dump un needed money into it check air filter check screen on mass air flow also possible ecm comp failure just cover your basics with a close eye before spending money yes its possible its fuel filter or the carbon canister some cavaliers have a canister right behind the gas tank when it gets clogged up it will run rough you can clean them out though

Check the tightness of the manifold bolts and look for evidence of a leaking gasket. If it is an injected petrol engine it could be leaking injector seals. Sounds like a vacuum problem. PS check all vacuum lines for cracks. Col

SOURCE: idle and stalling

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

It is likely either the crank sensor or the ignition module.

SOURCE: 94 cavalier z24 boggles and stalls when stopping

This is a longshot, I recall a Pontiac Fiero that had a similar problem. It turned out to be the TCC ( torque converter clutch ). which is part of the transmission. The TCC engages when in high gear ( 4th gear in your case ) . It is supposed to DISENGAGE when stepping on the brakes and slowing down. If it doesnt disengage, what you are experiencing occurs. Does it do it all the time or only when car reaches operating temperature ?.

What should the fuel pressure be from the fuel pump on my 1988 Dodge Ram 50, 5 speed, 2 liter, 4 cylinder engine be?]

Seems like an accelerator pump is worn out in the carb.To check it take off air cleaner and pump the throttle body by hand and see if it squirts in the top of the carb with engine off.Or bad fuel filter.

The tranny wont shift up in drive from third at about 40 mph the tranny starts to hesitate stutter. already changed oil filter and speed solonoid

just by your description (detailed) id say it could go a few directions ??4 a cause, one way is the 40 mph is near the speed that overdrive is engaged (42 mph) these do sometimes have problems inside them (gears ) also the stutter you mention is sort of an indication that your torque converter didn't lock up or is locking/.unlocking this is an indication of a immanent torque converter failure , if car was made past 2001 then chances are good it has some kind of transmission control system that could log a fault to help you look for a cause like a faulty speed sensor or something , ck your codes !!

Loss of engine power/transmission 2001 chevy tahoe over 65 mph

Sound's as though a previous owner installed a speed governor so that the engine would not exceed the nationwide 55-65 mph speed limit average. This most likely was a company owned vehicle or owned by someone concerned about speeding ticket's or excessive speed by a teenage driver. It can be uninstalled by an experienced mechanic. Unless this poses a problem while driving on an interstate, you may wish to leave it as is.

This engine is fully electronically controlled, so you need the dealer to do a full diagnostic of the engine control system, it is the only way to get to the bottom of this. Make sure you can show the dealer exactly what is going on otherwise if they can't duplicate the concern and no fault codes are present they can't fix it.

I have 2005 chevy cavalier that stalls .

Check to see if you emission system sensors are plugged in, such as the air intake sensor which is plugged into the air hose at the front of the engine. Another possibility is your gas cap. Replace it, its very cheap. If it only occurs at higher speeds it may be clogged injectors. Dump a bottle or two of injector cleaner into the gasoline tank after a fill-up. You might also try some octane booster which is methanol and will mix with and help remove any water in your fuel tank.

Chevy Transmission Diagram

I have a 1998 olds Regency frt whl drive auto trans. Do not know the trans ref like 460 e? or what.
Any how have had a frt growl, vib @ 65 mph, up and down ride at 10mph. New balanced tires replaced lh whl bearing by guess mechanic said th whl brg was ok.
Latest Son checked the drive axles for movement--there is up and dn movement @ shaft into trans end --lh & Rh side also clunkie noise. Trans seal not leaking, yet.
I suspect brgs or a bushing in trans end as it accepts the drive axle. If it the problem is it replaceable after axle removeable??
