I own an 88 b2200 2wd long bed, have had it about 9 years, over 300,000mi & have done much maintenance/repairs from replacing rocker arm shaft assembly & cam(oil holes plugged & ran down cam lobes) to replacing the ENTIRE wire harness from engine compartment to cab & bed, & replacing the center U joint (only serviceable one) of the split driveshaft so I am very familiar with the truck. My question is just recently was driving normal commute, no abnormal load ect. & with no distinct or noticeable sounds jarring, or otherwise any indication , starts a very intense vibration that develops rapidly at about 10mph & above, though I haven't taken it much over 10mph, luckily I wasn't far from home when it started. It's more of a whole body/frame vibration. I'm familiar with the vibration of tire imbalance & this is much to fast at too low traveling speed for that, pulled driveshaft checked all U joints, carrier bearing, & balancing weights for any abnormalitys with no luck, the vibration is a very quick/short but high frequency suggesting that the imbalance is that of something with a higher (non-engine)rpm, doesn't seem to be transmission/driveshaft, I have an idea what the general cause is but I'd like to get professional opinion before I take on this project, as well of any insight of a more specific diagnoses if you could be so kind. Also in your opinion if this is a serviceable matter(for someone very mechanically inclined) or overall better as a replacement/salvage or junk yard swap-out project. Hope I've given enough detail, Thanks, Terry Spokane, wa

You should check your engine's AIR hoses that are connecting to the airbox. sometimes a simple airleak will be enough to alter your idle. Specially when its cold the car will already idle rough ( I know im canadian lol). So go check your air hoses ;)

I replaced the lifters in my 2000 galant 2.4 L and i need to know what to torque the rocker arm shafts to.

1.5 and 1.8 engines:
* Install the rocker arm and shaft assemblies. Tighten the rocker arm shaft retainer bolts to 23 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).

* Check valve adjustment and install the valve cover. Tighten the valve cover bolts to 16 inch lbs. (1.8 Nm) for the 1.5L engine or to 29 inch lbs. (3.3 Nm) for the 1.8L engine.

2.0 engine
* Lubricate the rocker shaft with clean engine oil and install the rockers and springs in their proper places.

* Install the rocker shaft assemblies on the engine. Tighten the bolts gradually and evenly to 21-25 ft. lbs. (29-35 Nm).

2.4 engine

* Fit the rocker shaft springs from above and position them so that they are at right angles to the plug side. Install the rocker springs before installing the exhaust side rocker shaft and rocker arm assembly.

* Install the exhaust side rocker shaft assembly in the engine. Tighten the rocker shaft mounting bolts gradually and evenly to 23 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
* Remove the lash adjuster retaining tools.
* Install the rocker cover and tighten the mounting bolts to 30 inch lbs. (3 Nm).

* Reinstall the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.

Hope helps.

Rocker arm come out on jeep chrysler 3.7 eng

A rocker arm is the arm that sits on top of the valve stem and connects to the push rods 'the push rods sit on the cam so when engine is running, the push rods go up and down in a timed sequence and with the rocker arms, open and close the inlet and exhaust valves. the rocker arm is located inside the valve(rocker)cover .If the rocker arm gets loose or comes out.
Check the nuts on the shaft which holds the rocker arms.either the shaft or nuts are got loose. They need to be tightened.Don't make it too tight or too loose.  Too tight, and they don't flutter right. Too loose, and they allow the rocker arms to wiggle out of whack. Other possibility can be  something is broken, bent, collapsed, or out of adjustment.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Loud rattle noise in Camshaft

First, your engine has rocker arms, if you have a 4 cylinder you have 8 rocker arms, and if it is a 6 cylinder you have 12 rocker arms. Now if it is indeed a rocker arm making the noise, the cause is most likely a bad lifter or a worn cam shaft.
