How do you reset the oil change light after an oil change?
Posted by Anonymous on
If you have the optional message center it is on page 144 of your owners manual.
Press and release the SETUP
control to display “OIL LIFE =
XXX% then HOLD RESET = NEW”.
If you have the standard message center this begins on page 126 of your owners manual.

SOURCE: change oil light stays on
Using the black push button/rod, you know the one where you can switch to see trip A trip B etc?
keep pushing it til you get to the check engine part then it will cycle through several things. when you find the right place it will read "if new oil hold reset" at this point just hold reset. That is the black push button/rod.
If this don't work, try it again, sometimes it may miss...

SOURCE: Service Engine Soon light reset.
The Service Engine Soon light comes only when the engine computer control unit (called the PCM) senses a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system, it is not related to the oil change, there are about 200 possible faults that turn the light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free.

Testimonial: "Thanks! I guess the person that told me it was an oil change light was not quite up to speed. I'm off to AutoZone."
Ther are two types of clusters this is the most common, let me know if this doesnt work, you will be using the trip/reset button, when button is said it means the trip/ rest button this is the only button you will use.1)push and release button untilSETUP MENU HOLD RESET is display
2) press and hold button until you see SYSTEM CHECK or SYSTEM CHECK HOLD SET is displayed then release button.
3)press and release button to scroll the menu until you see HOLD RESET IF NEW OIL .
4) with hold rest if new oil displayed now push button and hold until you see OIL LIFE SET 100% displayed release button and your done. hope this helps.
