IT LOOKS LIKE THE ASSEMBLY LOST A RETAINING CLIP OR BROKE FROM WHATEVER ASSEMBLY IS HOLDING IT. LOOKS LIKE A WIRE IS HOLDING IT FROM BEING ABLE TO PULL ALL THE WAY OUT.

Thanks for choosing FixYa. You may have to replace the entire lock unit. Are you talking about the outside door lock? It may just new fitted back in. I am not familiar with this type, but you will have to get to it to know for sure, which would be through the interior panel.

Broken passenger door lock

NO
there is a small rod that is clipped into the lock arm inside and that small clip breaks and allows the rod to fall out
only fix is to remove the door trim and replace that clip to hold the rod in place

89 T-BIRD WONT START, TURNS OVER, THEFT LIGHT BLINKING, OWNER LOST KEYS, HAD NEW KEY CUT STILL WONT RUN

I would go after the door lock first. Older fords have a switch on the door lock that disables the alarm. They tend to break and fall though. I have replaced them with a momentary on/ff switch. But the alarm would go off when opening the door. On some older ones(85,87)(no keypad) I could disconnect the security module and it did just fine.

How to reset anti theft

You have to have a key with the chip. Shut the hood and trunk, lock all the doors. If you have a key fob, try it first. That should disarm the security. If not lock it again and unlock the passenger side door with the key. Reach in and unlock the drivers door by the handle. If this works then your key switch on the drivers side is bad. That's why the security sets. Some times they just fall off the lock. They're made of plastic. If all that fails, your looking at a reset. That would be a locksmith or the dealer.

When, a key lock sing blinks on the dash of hummer H3, and will not start, what can i do ?

make sure all windows are closed
get out of the Hummer, using the central lock, lock the 4 doors
close the door
then open it with the KEY
then try to Start the Hummer.
(repeat several times till it works)
I am facing this problem now and that is the only soluttion I found. Untill i buy a new remote key that got stolen :S

In order not to fall in this problem, avoid opening the hummer with the key and directly locking the four doors using the central lock before starting it.

The entire lock kit is falling out on driver side Murano. The remote unlocks all but the driver door at times. Other times the door will not open and I am forced to use the key to manually unlock my driver...

Open drivers door, locate plastic plug on inside of door, near latch, across from door lock cylinder. Pop it out. There is a set screw that retains lock cylinder. Tighten set screw.

Doors were shut last fall and we cant open them - how do we get the key lock to relase and open? the Key turns but no clicking etc.. have to get door open to work on it so whats the best way

Are they electric door locks? If so the battery might be dead.

Manual locks.....Maybe try and spray some lubricant in the lock cylinders, and work the key.

Remove the key cylinder

if its the ign lock, look under the steering column in the area beneath the lock, there will be a small hole, turn the key to on position, not start, and poke a small awl into the hole feel around for a pin to push in. when you find it push in and the lock will be able to pull out of the column.
if its a door, remove the large clip on the inside edge of the door with pliers , pull out the lock alittle, remove the clip holding the back of the lock to the cyl, dont let rod fall into door.

Key wont open door on Chevy Colorado, only remote entry works. Even duplicate key doesn't work. Battery fine.

Try spraying some wd40 into the lock loads of it and keep turning the key left to right might free off.

Or it could be a rod inside the door has come off so the lock wont move to unlock, the central locking has a motor to open the door that is not attached to the rod so it can work without the lock.

Take the door card/trim off and have a look at the rear of the lock, should have 1 rod for the handle, 1 for the lock mechanism and another for the inner handle. some are cables but most are rods

It might just have came off the back of the lock, they use very small plastic clips to hold the rod in place, when it gets cold the crack and fall off so the rod fall's out.

Hope this helps
