1988 mazda rx7 non turbo. good fuel pump, new filter. ran just fine then i turned it off, then it wouldnt start....once it finally did, it idles high, then if you press the gas, it dies. if you feather the gas, it will increase rpms....barely.....when driven, it falls on its face under load. im thinking fuel pressure regulator.....i noticed nothing coming out of the return hose at idle, when it used to DUMP out of it.....maybe pump is getting weak or faulty regulator....
SOURCE: recommended oil for a 1988 mazda rx7
are you sure you want to start using it. Yes it is a great product but it wont bring an old engine, magically, back to life. If anything it is thin like moble-1. So on an old engine it could start to leak oil from the main seals and/or start to smoke from worn rings. and royal purple is a full synthetic. Don't mix it with conventional oil.
SOURCE: RX7 with 13b engine is hard to start, idles fine, dies on accel.
problem like this on garden tractor ,was weak coil ,-when engine at low manifold pressure[idle] spark could jump gap and fire cylinder ,higher pressure /under load-wouldn't fire...check color of spark -orange,yellow ,white spark=weak, blue spark is stronge,
