Question about 1997 Nissan Sentra

2 Answers

I have a 1997 Nissan Sentra and I recently put in a radio. The wiring went great and everything was put like it was suppose to but that night as I was driving I realized that my dash lights would not turn on.. They were blown. I dont really know what caused it. Or what happened but also a couple days later a buddy told me that my running lights were not working. Also know as my tailings correct? Anyways. Bottom line is that all the lights work. My headlights. Blinkers. Emergent. Ebreak. And the Ebreak light comes on on the dash when pulled up and also so does the OD button. When pushed it appears on my dash. But other then that everything else is completely blown. What happened? How can I fix this. Please help.

Check fuse number 36 in the fuse block. It supplies power for bothe the interior lights and the running lights. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Under the hood the one under the dash only has 26 +/- fuses.

The RED/YELLOW wire (Pin #7 on the original radio connector) and the RED/BLUE (or RED GREEN) wire at Pin #8 are shorted to ground and the tail light fuse is blown (Fuse # 36, 10 Amp, in the Fusible Link and Fuse Box located in the left front of the engine compartment).

This is very common. You have probably installed an aftermarket radio that has all the pretty little "blinky" lights. It does not need the backlight circuits to illuminate the display and buttons like the original radio did. The wires and fuse I listed above are the circuits that operated the back-lighting for the original radio. These should probably not be used at all for your new radio. However, If your new radio requires a connection to the interior lighting system, then these are the wires to do it with, but you need to read your instructions carefully to see where they should be connected on the new radio.

I just put a radio with wiring harness in a 2000 Nissan sentra. The harness has an illumination wire and a illumination dimmer wire however there's no where to attach them. The radio works flawlessly...

no where to attach them where ? on the radio, or the car harness? the car has the wire, so the radio doesnt use them? usually Yellow/ Red wires.

2002 Nissan Sentra radio stopped playing.

It could be one of a couple of problems. First check the speakers and see if the cone rubber has worn or fallen out. It will be very visible if it has( the most outer piece of the cone ). If this is the case you can just replcae the speakers and all should be good.
Secondly it may be a short, if one of the wires connecting to the speakers is touching steel anywhere, the stereo will short the output circuts and there will usually be no volume. Any good stereo has a protection circut, so it doesn't blow the out puts on the stereo up.
Im guessing its the first problem, those nissans have pretty budget speakers made of paper cone..

WD40 is nonconducting so it can't hurt. Also check the wires at the lights for corrosion.
