    The problem was the oil pressure reading plug on the engine block.
    This fixed it.

I had the same problem a while ago, I fixed it by replacing the oil pump. You will need to purchase the pump, oil pan gasket, and of course oil. That should do it.

Hi there.
Depending on the gauge you have but it may be if you have a electric gauge then you have a wire touching to earth or a bad connection on the gauge, but if you have a solid pipe type then you could have a oil pressure problem ,or a faulty gauge .
Also check the oil type/ you should be running about 30W 40 or 50.
But the sender unit if electric will be screwed into the block.

My 2001 Ford Ranger Edge oil pressure gauge has been jumping around all over the place. Took it in today and they said pump needs replacing... and that they had to remove the engine to do so at the tune of...
Your oil pressure gauge works with the oil pressure sensor, which is screwed into the block, to transmit a reading. A faulty oil pressure sensor can cause the reading on the gauge to be erratic. You may have a bad oil pressure sensor. You should also inspect the wires going to the sender to make sure they are not loose, corroded, or shorted. If a new sending unit doesn't work, you can check the oil pressure with a manual pressure gauge. Testing for oil pressure involves fitting the oil pressure gauge with an adapter. Then you will need to determine if you have a gauge problem or an actual oil pressure problem.

Have you changed the oil filter? Change the oil and filter.(USE the AC Delco filter and the 10W - 30 oil..(Wal-Mart oil is fine - it's made by a major refinery - HINT- Walmart does not own a refinery!!!) They buy the oil, have it put in their marked containers and sell it cheaper then others) I ONLY use Wal-Mart oil in everything!!..you might try a pint of Lucas oil treatment..
See if the new filter helps.. sometimes they are defective and block oil flow and the pressure makes it flow..

2005 Chevy Silverado show low/erratic (0-20 lbs) oil pressure.
More then likely the sending unit is faulty, but to be safe hook up a mechanical test gage at the oil pressure sender port and check oil pressure hot engine, if it is steady then replace the sending unit.

Oil Pressure gauge stuck at maximum, coolant gauge stuck at maximum, speedometer erratic (either not working or working after startup)
The oil pressure gauge on my 2003 Avalanche reads "0" and activates low oil pressure warning. Oil level is OK and engine does not sound like one with with no oil pressure; AKA no knocks or ticking. The mileage is 50,000 on this vehicle any ideas as I with no gauge I am leary of driving it? Please advise!

I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. I just changed the oil and noticed ( hasn't happened before) the oil pressure gauge occasionally jumping around erratically up past the last line. I changed the oil filter...
the gauge should be at around 40 psi steady and higher at higher rpms,try using thicker oil if you have high milage ,if no change go ahead replace the oil pressure switch. hope this helps you please vote.

Get it checked with a mechanical gauge. Replace sensor.

My Oil Pressure gauge is working erratic, want to replace the sender, but where is it? V6 3.0 auto 2wd
It's on the right(passenger) rear corner. It has one wire connected to it. To verify that you have the correct sending unit, if you disconnect the wire and start the engine, the oil pressure gauge will either stay at 0 or will peg out.

My 01 bonneville oil pressure gauge is showing 120 and my gas gauge is all over the place
HI, the oil pressure sending unit may be malfunctioning at this point. this will cause erratic readings. if your oil level is proper and there are no apparent oil leaks, you will need to replace the oil pressure sending unit. this will fix the erratic oil pressure readings.

Concerning the gas gauge. this device also has a sending unit that sends the correct fuel level reading to the gas gauge via wire transfer. this sending unit is located and attached to the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank. replacing this device will fix this issue as well.

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500, with the factory security system (no remote start) and the horn honks continuously no matter if the truck is running or not. So I bought a new Horn Relay thinking that was probably the problem and replaced it, but it still didn't fix it. I have pulled the Security System Relay in the Fuse box under the hood behind the battery and reinstalled the horn relay and it still honks continuously. I have checked the horn buttons on the steering wheel airbag pad and they seem to be working but there is no way to tell because when i reinstall the horn relay the horn goes off continuously.
