I changed the battery as it was struggling to start over a few days and then died completely after being left over a weekend. After the replacement all electrics worked but the engine wouldn't turn over, it just clicked. There was no immobiliser warning or messages on the screen. I tried a few of the things on this forum but it turned out to be a broken battery earth cable where it attaches to the gearbox under the car. I removed the cable (easier with the battery tray removed) then had a new lug attached to the end. Total cost 1.50. phew!

hey Phil, I think I may have the same problem with my tino (all electrics worked but the engine doesn't start, no warning, new battery) . Since i have never checked the battery earth cable, how do i notice whether it is broken or not ? could you give me same more info after removing the tray?

SOURCE: Radio says Secure on Nissan Almera Tino (04)

Your radio believes that it has been stolen out of the car since battery power was lost to it (as a result of the car battery going dead). There should be instructions in the user manual on how to reset the radio.

SOURCE: Nissan Almera Tino Diesel 2.1 - Temperature control not working

Hi there, very common on these vehicles, you need to remove the heater cotrols and check that the cable hasn't come out, usually the clips that hold the cables in place break causing the heaters to not work properly, Nissan do modified clips now to stop it from happening, it may need a cable too if its too far bent, hope this helps.

SOURCE: Slow Electric window on Nissan Almera Tino 2002.

If you spray silicone in the tracks from the top open window and the speed changes faster I would say the channels are too tight. If no change then the voltage at the motor needs to be checked at 13+ volts. If not then the wiring at the door bend needs to be checked for fraying. If a garage does this job, then they should fix it right. It is not right. You paid for it.

Diagnosing no fire and and warmed positive battery post/terminal after changing the timing belt on 3.4L

the worry is that the battery post is getting hot
that indicates a dead short ,probably at the starter motor terminal
the engine is classified as a interference engine so there will be bent valves from the broken belt
with the engine not turning over and you didn't mention any head work it is very possible that a valve is bent and jamming on the piston stopping it moving and that is overloading the starter and heating up the battery post
Looks like it is back to square one and do it again

Which is the problem, no fire, or no crank. No fire means to spark to engine, but engine turns over fine. No crank means engine won't turn over when key is turned. I'm assuming engine will not turn over. Three most common problems. 1. Weak battery (get tested at auto parts store). Will hold charge for short time once started, but loses it when sits overnight. 2. Bad starter. Possible but not likely, still not out of the question. 3. Bad battery cables. This is an easy test. Take a pair of jumper cables and bypass the battery cables by connecting black side of jumper cable to "-" of battery and block of engine, and red of jumper cables to "+" of battery and (tap) Battery terminal post on starter...engine should turn over. Ensure you take all safety precautions to prevent car from moving during this procedure. Best of luck resolving this problem.

Sounds like a loose connection. Check all battery and starter connections for clean and tight connections.

That sounds like a bad ignition switch, which is located in the steering column on the right hand side, hope this helps, should fix both problems.

Replaced alternator and battery acted like not enough juice to turn over but battery fully charged changed battery terminals now no start fire

sounds like you have left a cable off the battery terminal ,some vehicles have more than one cable on the battery terminal ,also when started take the neg battery lead off and if engine stops then its a new alternator ,if engine keeps running then the fault is the battery for a slow turn over .

sounds like a fuel problem to me , could also be bad fuel ? have you check the following: fuel cap on properly, fuel filter changed , Check fuse relay. also would be a good idea to change the battery if it is still the original one.

it sounds like either your having a short at the starter or the ignition switch is bad, I am leaning towards the issue being the starter, usually when the ignition switch is going bad there will be no click,
