I have a 2000, W-reg Golf GTI (115Bhp). I find that recently, when accelarating through first to second gear, the clutch seems to squeek, especially when accelarating hard. Is my clutch slipping and do i need to replace it?
Hi sounds like the friction plate discs springs are weak not the cover plate if you do fast gearchanges the plates springs will break completely change the gears normally and it will last yates210456
Sounds like its not sticking to the flywheel instantly but skippng a little bit and the squeek could be the clutch plate springs groaning. If the clutch and flywheel have been used hard it could have a heat glaze on it that resists grip Probably need to get flywheel machined when you eventualy change the clutch.
