This is probably a clutch problem on the compressor, either buy a new clutch or get a second hand compressor and swap the clutch over.

Low on coolant would be my first guess. Does the temp gauage go up to middle, normal range?Should have a low coolant light on dash, but sometimes the sensor is diabled or broken. I would relace the t-stat and the sensor next to the t-stat housing. Tou will need a 40 torx to get the t-stat off.

It sounds like you need to go to the shop. the blend doors control the air flow, heat, and distribution. There are about 6 to 7 motors in all. They most likely need to be recalibrated. There is also a possibility the Climate Control Module Software will need to be upgraded. There is a small chance that there is a bad blend door motor that is crashing the communication link between the motors and the module.
Either way it goes only the dealer, or mabey a very heavily invested independent shop.
Hope this helps.

If the A/C knob is not set to 0 at the time ignition was off, the fan could run for a little and then off itself.

First check if you have enough coolant in your car. If it's low, it might not reach your system. When the engine is off it should be just under MAX.

Have driven Volvo estates for the past 25 years and have never had a problem with misting or demisting, in fact it is not something I would normally notice. I have driven a 2000 model for the last 6 years and leave the controls set to manual, AC off, face & feet with the fan set on auto. I jump in and drive, the widows never mist up even on wet days. I have just bought a V70 2004 model with 15000 miles on the clock, looks and smell brand new. However I have tried all combinations of climate control settings but the windows mist up. the only setting that clears the windscreen is auto demist with full Ac on and this only demists the front as long as it is left on, even on a 4 hour run. There is no evidence of a water leek, the carpets are bone dry and the interior smells new. I have thought that the pollen filter or the rear vents could cause this problem, to date I have not been able to check these due to bad weather. the car has been garaged and not driven for the past 5 years, except for its annual service by Volvo London.
What are the likely causes for this problem?
