Dead battery. I've been through an experience with my 1998 Ford Taurus. The battery went dead in March, 2008. I replaced it, but the car engine didn't run smooth; so, I let the car sit. I got back in the car and tried to start it again in September, 2008. The battery was dead. So, I got another battery. When I was taking out the dead batter, a nub on the cable on the + side of the battery opened up. I notice it was a fuse holder. I checked the fuse. It was burned out. I went and bought a new 30 amp fuse and put it in. Then I installed the new battery. I've been driving the car ever since. I don't know what the fuse is for, but the car runs fine.
the battery is not dead, or even weak. this is an intermittant problem that temporarily resolves itself if i wiggle the cable. The cable ends at the battery terminals are quite secure, the battery is not dead, or even weak. this is an intermittant problem that temporarily resolves itself if i wiggle the cable. from personal experience alternators can test good when you take them off your vehicle and carry into a parts store. if when the car is running and you take the negative cable off the battery and it dies, than you know the alternator is bad. never remove the positive when running or before the ground post. had an 05 kia serento doing the same thing. replaced alternator and fixed the problem
Does it go dead after sitting for a few hours? Once started and driven for several miles will it restart if the engine is shutoff? If the battery goes dead only after sitting for a while with the engine off, you probably have a bulb or some accessory that is draining the battery.
Yes,the newer cars need a strong battery or funny things happen. You'll need to replace your brake pedal switch or bleed the system properly. don-ohio (:^)
It's possible that the battery is shot even though it's a newer car. I have a 2006 Ford Taurus I had to replace the battery in 2007. You just never know with batteries. Do you have 5W30 oil in the car?
sounds like a dead battery, have battery tested or trun on headlights if you have bright headlights then its not battery, check connections and starter it may be bad start there, good luck.
