2001 Peugeot HDI fuel starvation .

New fuel pump fitted & fuel system cleaned through, but now engine won't rev above 3000 rpm & display shows antipollution fault. Could exhaust be blocked?

engine will not rev above 2000 rpm

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2014

I have the "antipollution fault" error displayed and engine management warning light ono

I ask our mechanic to help read the error code, and it returns the following:

    [ME744]
    Motorised Butterfly Track 1: Coherence
    [ME745]
Programming of the motorised throttle stops. Programming failure

Does anyone have an idea what's the problem causing these error codes?

    Thanks

Does it get worse as it runs? this would indicate exhaust problem. could be mass air flow

Peugeot fuel, rev, and speed dials not working

Those sorts of issues you can't fix yourself. Look locally for a good auto-electrician. You need someone with a $2,500 scan tool computer than can analyze the electrical system in real time as it happens and record it all.

Look at the Scotty Kilmer YouTube channel for the sort of data a scan tool can diagnose. He recently did a 2006 Lexus.

My Peugeot 206 HDi (not listed to pick) runs fine until eng temp reaches 80 then suddenly becomes very lumpy. If I need to accelerate there is no problem and it runs fine but as soon as I ease off on the...

Please Check High pressure fuel pump. In my opinion your fuel pump connected to timing belt is giving away. When you increase rev on engine, the pressure increases as well. As a result, Injector spray pattern gets steady. But on revs below 900rpm it struggle to maintains required pressure. If everything in fuel injection system is working fine then the Worst case scenario is that the head pressure is leaking aka compression leakage.

Are there catalytic converters fitted on 406 2.0l

Its a dpf not a cat.Easy way to clean out[regenerate]First bring the engine to normal temp bring up the rpm to 4000 for 2 mins, then allow to idle for 30 seconds then bring the rpm up to 3000 rpm for 3 mins and yourfilter will have regenerated [fancy word for clean itself out. DPF = diesel particulate filter. Its important to use good quality low ash oil for your oil changes.

Car wont rev

under the bonnet on the back of the mechanical pump there is a unit held in by 2 bolts
remove this unit and on the end there is a tiny filter
this will need cleaning because when the lift pump brakes down tiny parts of it get sucked up through the pipes and clog the filter
it may be best to feplace the fuel filter aswell

Engine speed will not rev over 4000rpm

take it to a mechanic to check the timing. if the timing is off then it may run at a idle an a little above but once you rev it up then the timing will truely show an it will run like ****. have you checked your air filter that may be another cause. hope this helps
