Need some opinions from some real toyota 4-runner enthusiast. I have a 1991 Runner 3.0 V6 Auto. I had to replace the ****** but used a used torque converter, ever since I replaced it the manifolds glow red(when trying to drive it, it idles fine.) I have talked to a few mechanics their opinions were catalytic converter, but ive already replaced that too when i put my flowmaster exhaust on. Also have checked the timing and thats right as well. So I am led to beleive that it is the torque converter because it has only done this since the ****** was replaced and the used torque converter was installed. Also ****** shifts 100% correct so i do not beleive its the ******. Just like to get some good feed back if possible thanks. Has pleny of power for first mile but then looses power as the manifolds begin to glow.

SOURCE: ENGINE LIGHT ON SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER AND POSSIBLE RATTLE

p2004 (Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open)You need to take a look at the IMRC actuators on the intake manifold. You can try using a screwdriver or other tool to move the actuators to see if one is stuck in the open position. Do not use your fingers to do this, because if one is open and decides to close it has a bit of force behind it and can injure you. If the IMRC is stuck open, it is usually due to deposits in the intake manifold. Repair involves removing the upper intake manifold and cleaning out any deposits in the IMRC plate area. I would try running some Techron Concentrate in 2 tanks of gas to see if it dissolves enough of the gunk on the plates to free up the stuck one. Certainly a lot cheaper than having to pull the intake manifold and cleaning the plates. Always run tier one gasoline like Shell or Chevron to reduce the buidup of deposits.

SOURCE: I have a '96 Ford Windstar 3.8L & getting OBDII P1537 code.

A common problem on Windstars, there are two IMRC valves, the only way to fix them is replacement, which is not that hard. They are mounted on the end of the intake manifold and control runner length. There is a front and rear one, I'm not sure which one this is but you'll probably have to go to Ford to buy it and they should be able to tell you with the code number. The problem will not affect driveability that much, but if you have emissions testing at your location, this will likely cause it to fail.

SOURCE: Intake manifold runner control stuck closed?

you don't have to replaced the manifold just the runner control. see this all the time at work the part is about 175.00 and an hour and a half to install. your local dealer should be able to fix this for you

SOURCE: water leak under the intake manifold,1995 toyota 4 runner

There is a heater core bypass pipe that runs from the block (under the manifold) to the bacl of theengine where you will see a flat rectangular "sheet metal" thing with a pipe coming out of it. The a rubber hose connects. You need to pull the top air plenums and intake to get to it. The p[ipe flange bolts to the block with silicone rtv as a sealant.

I don't see 3v2? Is this vehicle sold in the US? If not, I wouldn't have those specs, sorry.

My 1991 toyota 4 runner starts,but not run .

check trasmisson fluild level if it is full check to see if it ssmells burnt if it smells like onions and is brrown then the filter may be plugged and the fluid is burned so you will have to replace it. however most likely it needs to be rebuilt snd tork converter replaced. hope this helps.

My overdrive lightis flashing on my 1991 toyota 4 runner.

means it's going out or the transmission oil will need to be changed, check the transmission fluid if it is brown and smells likes onions have the fluid changed and the filter, this may not fix it but you may get lucky, if it's the band or clutch assembly you will have to rebuild transmission.

My 1991 Toyota 4-runner gas mileage decreased from 21 to 18 mpg

Sounds like you have no Torque converter lock up function. The wiring connector for T/C lockup solenoid must have been disturbed or the solenoid is bad. No lock up will make a 200 RPM difference in high gear
