I have been waiting on a part to fix my ignition lock for a week now. My key will turn to start but will not turn back to turn off the car. I have been removing the fuse and disconnecting the battery in order to drive the car. Today I replaced the fuse and hooked the battery up. I turned the key and the car started. I backed out of my parking space and placed the car in drive and it cut off. The battery light came on. I restarted the car w/no problem but again it stalled when placed in drive. This happened about three times. I placed the car in reverse and backed down my lot and back into my parking space. I place the car in drive to shut if off and disconnected the battery. Can anyone give me any insight to this problem, please?

Im thinking your going to be ok as far as warranty repair,if your dealers service dept is insensitive, call Saturn assist @ 1.800.553.6000 On to the ignition switch ....separate colum halves with #2 screwdriver> access ignition housing and look for trip slot on top side of cylinder>use pocket size screwdriver to trip button in slot while in ACC position and pull out...good luck

Sounds like a fuel issue to me. Maybe the fuel is sloshing to the right of the tank and causing air to be drawn into the fuel line. Just a guess but something to think about.

COULD BE MANY REASONS, START BY CHECKING FOR VACCUM LEAKS AND MAKE SURE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE IS WORKING AND THROTTLEBODY IS CLEAN,GOOD LUCK.

do the following, it fixes these kinds of problems, follow the instructions exactly.
Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
