Put new one on and now need to know how to adjust it
SOURCE: Idle Adjustment Screw Location on 96 Civic
your idle can not be manually adjusted. it is controled by the ecm via the throttle position sensor on the throttle body(tps). you have to have a diagnostic scanner to interface with the ecm to adjust the idle. most service shops have this equipment
SOURCE: How to I set idle speed?
Before performing any on-vehicle adjustments to fuel or ignition systems, ensure engine mechanical condition is okay. CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Drive ability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle.
IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE
NOTE: Idle mixture is controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Adjustment is not possible. After replacement of Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, system must be cycled as identified for PCM to properly control idle speed. If idle speed is not okay after cycling system, problem is usually caused by a dirty throttle plate or vacuum leaks. Ensure all vacuum components are functioning properly.
IDLE SPEED (4-CYLINDER)
Turn ignition on with engine off for 10 seconds. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds. Start engine and idle for 30 seconds. Slowly vary engine speed between idle and 3500 RPM 5 times. Return engine to idle. PCM will now properly control idle speed. 2.2L (Cavalier & Sunfire) & 2.4L (Alero, Cavalier, Grand Am & Sunfire) Good luck and hope this helps. If it still has the high idle problem, your going to have to buy a can if not two cans ot THROTTLE BODY CLEANER NOT CARBURATOR CLEANER. Just follow the instruction on the can and try to get the Idle Air Control Valve cleaned also which is on the sdie of the throttle body so go to town when cleaning the throttle body and then do the Idle speed relearn again. The other thing to is since your doing house cleaning, buy a MAF sensor cleaner and spray down your MAF sensor and IAT sensor also, this will help with your fuell consumption.
Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.
SOURCE: need to adjust idle
the idle adjustment screw is on the left hand side of bike wright under the fuel tank. between the the two heads it should look like a little turn knob that you can turn with your fingers

hi terry, here we go ---screw the H srew right in till it stops then back it out 1 1/8th of a turn do the same to theL screw but only back it out 1 turn.screw the idle screw in i turn. it is abit difficult adjusting things by holding them with one hand while you screwthings with the other,so if need be clamp the chain bar in a vice making sure the chain is not touching any thing.start the motor ,hold it at a high idle a minute or so to warm up, the n take it up to top revsand hold it there whilst screwing the H screw slowly in and out until it runs the sweetest then back it out 1/8 th of a ,turn, donot take it in past 7/8 ths of a turn . now release the throttle and let it idle do the same thing with the L screw in and out to where it idles best then set your idle speed with the idle screw so that the chain just holds from turning (that is not so important so long as it idles nicely with out cutting out) and there you have it . just watch your hands onthat chain .

turning Hi & Lo mixture screws in leans the mixture, out rich-ens it.turn the T screw in to increase idle speed the chain should slowly come to a stop at idle [chain brake off] adjust Low needle first until it accelerates smoothly then Hi needle for best 'revs'.then Lo again if necessary if you don't know where they were set before, start w/ screws 3/4 to 1 turn out from a lightly seated position
Testimonial: "Thanks. That answers my question - presuming "in" means clockwise. "
