The 2.7 engines are interchangeable but the flywheels and the front bank cam gears can be different. they have to be what the car came with or it wont run

Try seeing if the coil works here is how to see take a spark plug out and leave the wire connected place it on a metal part of the motor crank it over and have someone watch closely and see if the plugs spark on the metal if they don't then it needs a coil and/or coil wire replace just the coil wire first since that is the least expensive option if that does not solve it then change out the coil and dont hold or touch the coil wire when turning it over cause if it works it hurts like heck

try making sure the timing is correct

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2008

timing may be way off or even backwards

  • Anonymous Oct 11, 2008

knew it had to do with timing

My 2004 sebring stalls and will not crank for hours it stalls while driveing or setting still

If it usually starts when cold, but when fails hot will not start until totally cold, suspect bad coil, ignition module or other electronic sensor on engine such as crank or cam sensor. Testing individual parts often is difficult, because part only fails when hot.

Sounds like you may have a bad ignition switch. The ignition has be on to read codes and the ignition must be turned to crank a starter motor

Where is the crankshaft postion sensor on a 2.7L 2003 sebring?

On the front of the motor at the bottom where the crank shaft comes out of the motor, the one with the largest pully, it will be mounted on the outside and has 3 or 4 wires going to it. If you remove and replace it make sure you get the correct air gap or it won't work.
