Car Takes Several Attempts to start

The key I have is a replacement to the original key, so the dealer who sold me the car said it is probably a security chip issue. I attempt to start the car and it fires up and immediately cuts off. I try again, and it doesn't fire up. I lock all the doors, and unlock them, and it fires up and stops right away. After about 10 minutes of doing this, the car finally starts and stays on. Any suggestions?

Nah... Robert Hofland,

The security key either works or it does not...

If the "DEALER" actually has a MECHANIC around...
That would a NICE (albeit unlikely).

YOUR Dealer ...
(In my opinion: needs a little integrity and / or a brain)...

Your can get "FREE" reads to get the
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) pulled out
of your On Board Diagnostic System...

Don't buy anything... ESPECIALLY not Oxygen sensors...
just get the codes READ-OUT...

Come back here... We have some pretty good experience...!!

>> If it only does this when it is cold...

>> or when it has been standing...

Point to completely different troubles... but both in your
FUEL SUPPLY.

Getting those codes is PARAMOUNT.

Exhaust shops, parts stores... even some mechanics...
If it is something simple... You might be wise just to get
it fixed... or diagnosed & fix it yourself...

Pretty sure you are BETTER OFF not letting the
"dealer" continue at VERY BEST... being incredibly INCOMPETENT... dishonest... (creep... etc.
(in my opinion)).

Try it... Big savings... You will be proud.

SOURCE: 1997 ES 300 How to reset anti-theft system when car won't start

With the doors shut, insert the key into the drivers door lock. Lock and unlock the door 5 times. This should reset the system. If that doesn't work you should contact a qualified repair shop.

SOURCE: Same Problem-My 2006 GX470 won't start -Key won't turn.

Had the same issue with my wife's 2005 Lexus GX470. The issue is that the shifter is not in park (even though it seems it is). The other issue is that without the key turned, you can not move the shifter to neutral. If you look closely at the gear shift, on the left above the P (Park Symbol) there is a small rectangular box that has a **** on one side. _862.jpgTake a small screwdriver and lift the plastic cover which will reveal a button. With your foot on the brake, push the button with one hand and now you will be able to move the shifter to neutral with the other hand. Now, put it back in park and you should now be able to turn your key and start your car. Put the little piece of plastic you removed over the button and go on your way.

My car wont start lost my key so got an ignition barrel and key out of a different car wat do i need to do? plz if anyone can help plz

Your car is probably fitted with an immobiliser , you need to have the original key in the car when you start it or replace the immobiliser module and key with a programmed chip to match that immobiliser , otherwise go to the dealer with VIN number and they will replace the key (not cheap usually) the trick is the immobiliser chip in the key must match the one in the car , it's a security feature .

I need a replacement key for 1997 Nissan Sentra

Two ways...Nissan puts the key code on a piece of white tape and sticks it on the inside of the glove box door. However, someone could have pulled it off at some point. Check there first. Secondly, the original owners paperwork should have the key code on it. If you are not the original owner, or do not have access to that person, but know the dealer where the car was originally sold, they would have the paperwork on file, they probably do not have a way to cross reference the serial #, so you would likely have to know the original owners name in order for them to look up the archived deal and get the number from the paperwork. The only other suggestion I might have is to get a locksmith to cut you a key. Good luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful! Check the glovebox!

Car turns over won't start gotten new fuel pump problem is back

Our dealer found the problem! The module that detects the e-key was flaky. Apparently if the module does not recognize the electronic code in the key, it shuts off the fuel feed to the injectors. When it  finally did detect it, the extra pressure in the injectors then gives the engine an extra bit of fuel and the RPMs jump for a few seconds. We provided both keys and the dealer replaced the module and we received 2 new keys as the modules are synchronized with keys from the factory. It has been months with no further incidences. What was impressive is that the dealer had to contact the Hyundai engineering division to get an answer. It would seem that less than  a dozen reports of this have been filed. WOO-HOO!!!

Lost key

If you know the dealership the vehicle came from they should be able to pull up that information there. also if you have the original owners manual check the back of the book for a small tag thats aluminum and should have a 4 digit key code that they can create the key with that number if it is in the book.
