Holden Vy 2002 SRS light won't turn off why

There could be several reasons why the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) light on your Holden Vy 2002 won't turn off.
One possibility is that there is a fault or malfunction in the SRS system itself. This could be caused by a faulty sensor, a loose or damaged connector, or a problem with the SRS module. In this case, you will likely need to have the system diagnosed and repaired by a qualified mechanic. They will be able to use specialized diagnostic tools to identify the exact cause of the issue and make the necessary repairs.
Another possible reason is that there is a problem with the wiring or electrical system. Check for any loose or damaged wires leading to the SRS module or sensors. If you notice any issues, they will need to be repaired or replaced accordingly.
It's also possible that the SRS light is staying on due to a previous collision or impact, even if the damage has been repaired. In this case, there may be an issue with the crash sensors or impact sensors that are still detecting a problem. Again, a qualified mechanic will be able to diagnose and address this issue.
Overall, it's important to have the SRS system inspected and repaired as soon as possible. The SRS light indicates that there may be a problem with the safety system that could affect the performance of your vehicle in the event of an accident.

I have a 2008 Ford ranger 4x4. When I start it, the airbag light comes on and stays on along with one single beep. What's the problem? What is faulty?

Prove Out Procedure
Turn the ignition switch from the OFF to the ON position and visually monitor the air bag indicator with all SRS components connected or restraint system diagnostic tools installed. The air bag indicator will light continuously for approximately 6 seconds and then turn off. If an SRS fault is present, the air bag indicator will:
  • fail to light.
  • remain lit continuously.
  • flash.
The flashing might not occur until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned from the OFF to the ON position. This is the time required for the RCM to complete the testing of the SRS. If the air bag indicator is inoperative and an SRS fault exists, a chime will sound in a pattern of 5 sets of 5 beeps. If this occurs, the air bag indicator will need to be repaired before diagnosis can continue.
Diagnosing Customer Concerns Without Hard DTCs
If a lamp fault code (LFC) is reported by the customer but is not present when the vehicle comes in for service, follow the Diagnostic Instruction procedures in this section to identify the intermittent diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
Once the DTC is known, read the Normal Operation section of the pinpoint test for the DTC involved.
  • Follow the deactivation or depowering procedure as directed in this section.
  • Determine the location of components involved in creating the DTC.
  • Carry out a thorough visual inspection of:
    • components.
    • connectors.
    • splices and wiring harnesses.
    • insulation on conductors.
Refer to the Possible Causes section of the pinpoint test for the DTC involved, which lists the common concerns that relate to the DTC. Concerns are listed according to priority.

Diagnosing Customer Concerns with Hard DTCs
Most supplemental restraint system (SRS) diagnostic procedures will require deactivation and reactivation or depowering and repowering of the system. Deactivation and reactivation requires the disconnection of most SRS components and the installation of restraint system diagnostic tools. Depowering and repowering requires disconnection of the battery and removal of the restraints control module (RCM) fuse. This reduces the risk of inadvertent deployment of SRS components while diagnostic procedures are being carried out.
Restraint system diagnostic tools are required for the diagnosis and testing of the SRS. It is not acceptable to short-circuit the air bag module connections with a jumper wire. If a jumper wire is used to short-circuit the air bag module connections, a LFC will be displayed.
You need more then a code read too see these DTC'S . Your need a factory or some other professional type scan tool .

  1. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to Symptom Chart .

Airbag light stays on, how do I fix this myself with no cost or little cost?

If you haven't had the error code read from the cars SRS Airbag Computer Control Module, take the car to your friendly auto parts retailer and have the code read. Most parts suppliers will provide a complementary scan.

If the light comes on a second or two after the key is turned on it is an indication that the SRS computer has failed a system check.
The attached image shows components checked during the SRS diagnostics startup check. They check the wiring for bad connections and the airbag explosive charge to confirm the connections and charge is ready..

Having the error code data will give you an indication of the cost associated with the repair. With the light lit the saftey restraint is deactivated and the problem should be corrected. Many cars have tensioners that tighten the seat belt during a crash. Connections to these components along with the seat presence switches can have connection problems under and around the seats.

SRS remains charged even when the power to the SRS computer is removed. This makes sense when you think about a crash where the electrical systems fails at the instant the system needs to deploy the airbag!!

These systems need to be serviced only by a qualified technician. The Airbags can deploy without warning as when you are working on the system and not follow the required procedures.

Fix airbag warning light which stays on

Airbag Service Reset Tools

Find the fuse panel cover in the foot well on the driver's side of the vehicle. Pull down on it to open it.
Find a yellow connector inside the fuse panel. Pull out this connector. This is the airbag power connector, also called the SRS power connector.
Insert one end of the paperclip into one terminal of the SRS power connector and insert the other end of the paperclip into the other terminal.
Put the key into the ignition and turn on the vehicle, making sure you don't start the engine. The paperclip shorts out the SRS light, thus resetting and turning it off. Plug the SRS power connector back into the fuse panel. Put the cover back on the fuse panel and shut off the vehicle.
Wait a couple of minutes, then turn the engine on. Look on the instrument panel to ensure that the SRS light has turned off. Turn off the engine and remove the keys from the vehicle.

Alarm deactivates but car wont start, orange key on dash

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

SRS light is on all the time

SRS is your air bag system and the light indicates self-diagnostics are finding something amiss and turning the system off. Do you have anything on the front seat? Is your passenger leaning on the door? In both of these cases the system is acting normally, but will deactivate the air bags. Remove the junk, sit up straight, and the light should go away. Also check for a blown fuse. If that's not it then I'd only recomend a Honda technician diagnose this important safetey feature.

What is the SRS light? I have 1996 honda accord

the SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System. Most people call it the air bags but the SRS system includes all of the sensors and control units for air bags, seat belt pre-tensioners and passenger detection systems on cars that are equiped with them

each time you start the car up the SRS control unit will do a self-test of the system to make sure all of the sensors are working properly. The SRS light will stay on while that test is conducted. If all is well and everything passes the on-board test the light will go out in about 7 seconds. If something is wrong the light will stay on.

whenever a failure is detected for any reason, the SRS light is turned on and the system is shut off. The air bags will not be deployed when the SRS light is on.

They call it a Supplemental Restraint System because your seat belts are your primary restraint system.

hope that answers your question

1999 f150 airbag light stays on after blinking upon start up!

Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Switch
The passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) switch:
  • is located on the instrument panel to the right of the climate controls.
  • contains a light emitting diode (LED) that indicates when the PAD switch is activated (passenger air bag disabled).
  • allows the passenger air bag deployment circuit to be disabled using the ignition key.
  • should be used whenever a child safety seat is being used in the front passenger seating position.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prove Out the System
Prove out the system means to turn the ignition switch from the OFF to the RUN position and visually monitor the air bag indicator with the air bag modules installed. The air bag indicator will light continuously for approximately six seconds and then turn off. If an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault is present, the air bag indicator will either:
  • fail to light.
  • remain lit continuously.
  • flash.
The flashing might not occur until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned from the OFF to the RUN position. This is the time required for the restraints control module (RCM) to complete the testing of the SRS. If the air bag indicator is inoperative and an SRS fault exists, a chime will sound in a pattern of five sets of five tone bursts. If this occurs, the air bag indicator will need to be repaired before diagnosis can continue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Active Commands
This command allows the technician to verify operation of the air bag indicator, passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) lamp and chime. When the air bag output command is executed, the indicator, the PAD lamp, chime and the chime are activated simultaneously for approximately four seconds. All devices are deactivated automatically.
