Nissan maxima how do you take the back seat out so i can chane the fuel pump. help

I have reset two inertia switches on cars because the were in an accident. I have never replaced one because it was bad. Replace the fuel pump. It's under the back seat.

In fuel tank, may remove rear seat and see access panel for fuel pump and unit

turn on acc and listen to pump see if you still smell gas poss.not venting properly

you have to take the back seat out to remove it from the fuel tank. Just removed my fuel tank

take out the back seat(bottom part) or pull back the liner in trunk. You should see a small panel. Unscrew the panel cover to reveal the fuel pump. Remove it SLOWLY and be careful of plastic parts, they snap easy. Just remove and reinstall, its pretty simple. Make sure the is no full of gas, it will be everywhere.

The fuel pump is located under the rear seat. You will need to remove the rear seats to gain access for replacement or inspection of the pump.

If it drives at highway speed....you do not need a pump.
Do you have a "check engine" light on?
Hopefully you do....as it will show you a code to help cure the problem.
I would start with a throttle body cleaning.


If you want to access the fuel pump......remove the back seat....bottom seat.
Remove the cover on the floor.....under the seat.....there's the pump.

under back seat bottom is an access plate! remove the seat bottom and it is in the middle! easy fix!

The fuel pump IS located in the fuel tank. It is easily accessed in this particuar model, under the rear seat. If you have an arm reat in the middle of the rear seat, you'll need to go in through the trunk. Remove the cover from the the far back, between the back of the rear seat and the trunk space. Remove approximately 4 to 6 screws in the center piece of cardboard that attaches the armrest and rearseat to the cross menber of seperating trunk from seat.
From the back seat, grab the top of the back rest of rear seat, PULL HARD forward on left and right sides . This should disconnect the top. Then, on left + right-sides, toward the lower cushon, there will be a bolt, remove them.
Then pull up the bottom cushion.
In the middle of the floor you have left, where the bottom cushion once was, you will find the top of the fuel pump access. From the top there is a cable that goes toward the driverside, follow it to the connector which should be cover by a small piece of foam. Remember to diconnect the pump before attempting to service or replace it.
