John hi Ryan, I'll go along with the advise already given and just add that the lock button shou.d be pressed for about 10 seconds to activate and deactivate. in some countries it is illegal for the alarm to sound when locking and unlocking, that's the reason for the option. regards John
If the alarm is built into the vehicle at the factory it is part of the ECM. This could be indicating a problem with the ECM. The first thing to check is if the horn is actually working. If it isn't then troubleshoot that problem first, if it is then you are going to have to have the ECM checked at the dealer, they are the only ones with the computer software and diagnostic package to check the ECM. If the alarm was added after the car was purchased and or it doesn't use the horn the problem is most likely the alarm unit itself.
Pressing lock button should activate alarm sound. system, when you press unlock button that deactivates alarm sound.i you dont hear alarm sound problem is in the ecm.
SOURCE: My 2006 Mercedes-Benz c230 doesnt beep when i lock and unlock it. How do i fix this problem?
Most remotes offer the option of 'silent' or audible operation and these are chosen with the remote itself via a combination of button presses. You'll have to consult the owner's manual for this on your car, I'm fairly sure the 3-button series of mine will not work with your system. I have mine set to only blink the lights instead of the horn sounding off.
