My tahoe sport will not charge or shift into second gear barely starts right now almost like i left a light on or something battery seems to be drained but when i give it a jump it fires right up just wont stay running last time i drove it was the day before yesterday it ran fine then what seems to be my problem ?

could be several things, like bad alternator relay, bad alternator, voltage regulator. have a qualified tech look at it.

this is known as "limp mode"
there should be a fuse in the dashboard fuse panel, or possibly the one under the hood.. one will be labeled trans or tcm - something of the like...test ALL fuses in the fuse boxes for good measure, and change the fuses if you find any blown.
ALSO....
Did you recently have a remote start system installed? If so, they need to hook up the smaller white wire in the ignition harness to turn on with the ignition power from the remote start unit. If the ignition wire and the white wire (transmission control) are not powered at the same time, the trans will go into limp mode.

If its been a while sense you have chg. fuel filter,DO IT, If still does the same after that, do fuel pressure test, fuel pump might be on its way out. $$$$$. If pump and filter chks. out ok, than maybe its fuel regulator. My best guess its either filter or pump.

hi its rob sounds like ur battery needs changed when a battery is left to go flat the cells start to buckle each cell is two volts if u loose just one of these the battery will not hold its chardge.sometimes u can get intermited chardge were it will be ok one minute and the i will just dye the next

First try extracting the codes from the ECM using an OBDII code reader. The codes will likely point towards your problem.
