Glove box, LOCK BROKEN IN LOCK POSITION

HOW DO I REMOVE THE DOOR

1999 Eldo ...closed the glove box and it locked. Key is totally inop. Locksmiths couldn't open it. The dealer couldn't open it...and said they would have to break the handle...cost would be in the area of two to three hundred to fix. GM said they never heard of this problem and had to remedy.

I have a 2005 Cad. Deville with a broken glovebox lock. The key does not work. Can I just drill the lock and get a replacement

1998 Seville STS. Dealer Repair manager hadn't heard of it either... yeah.
He says, just pull the trigger beneath the flip handle. Nope.

He says, it's just a spring loaded lever.
Then, he tries all his bag of tricks. Nope.

Wants to charge me $250 for parts & labor??

I'd pop it if I knew which way the actuator is - either pointed IN from the outer shell, or pointed OUT from the dashboard.

If the glove box is anything like mine it is a modular piece assembled with screws.... let them break the handle.. get a replacement first from a junk dealer and have the broken part swapped out. Its like a seat belt catch in my 97 deville. The glove box in mine flopped open and the catch had broken and fell down the door of the glovebox itself. The whole door is assembled with philips screws and should be easily removed and a new latch put in.. whoever does it should not cost more than 50.00 in labor MAYBE unless you have a friend that would do it for a beer. I saw a complete glove box on ebay for 40.00 shipping ontop of that .. i saw the latch for 20.00 +shipping.

How do I change cabin air filter in 2006 m35? video or pics?

First, you need to remove the glove box: Open the glove box. There are three hinge points at the bottom of the box (left, center and right). There are "tabs" on the box that slide into these "holders". Gently pull up and out on the left side of the glove box. The tab should pop out. Repeat for the center point. This should allow the left side stop pin to clear the dash slot. Repeat for the right side. You should now be able to turn the box, pull it from the dash and let it hang from the retaining cord on the right side. Note the hinge slots and tabs for reference for re-installation later. Second, remove the black access door behind the glove box: This is an "L" shaped cover with three hinge points at the bottom and three tabs at the top. Gently push back on the tabs at the top to un-lock, rotate down on the hinge points and pull out. Behind this you will see a white plastic door which covers and holds the filter in place. Third, remove white access door as follows or you will break the retaining tabs off! On the right side is a locking tab, gently press in and pull the right side of the tab toward you to unlock the tab BUT STOP AS SOON AS THE TAB UNLOCKS THE DOOR AND OPENS ABOUT ½ " or the tabs on the left side will break off, they are not hinged! Next, slide the door to the right to clear the tabs on the left side and remove. Note the position and orientation of the filter inside. Remove the old filter. Fourth, install the new filter: Make sure the orientation and air flow direction are as marked and match previous filter. Mine was pointing "up", with the rigid side plate facing out. The new filter will be sitting on top of the fan, when the white door is re-installed, it has "fingers" that lift the filter into the proper location, but you may find it easier to lift the filter up with one hand and slide the door back into position with the other hand. That said, lift the filter, slide the tabs on the left side of the door back into there slots. Push the door back into original position and latch the right side locking tab. Make sure the door is sealed and back to original position and latch tab on the right is locked. Now, reverse the previous steps to complete the task. Re-install the black access door cover. Lift up the glove box and turn to install right side stop pin into dash slot position, rotate left side into position and center box in dash opening. You will have to move the box up/down, in/out a bit to "feel" the hinge tabs properly engage the hinge slots. Once the tabs are in the slots you can push down on each side and it will pop back in place. (If you have difficulty, you may want to remove the under dash cover below the glove box. There are three tabs in the front that slide into three slots and one tab and slot in the rear. This can be removed by pulling down on the front of the panel at each side and the middle, then slide it forward out of the rear slot. Disconnect the light if required by pushing the latch on the plug and pulling it off. Feel around the hinge locations to guide the parts together).

Fuse box locations on a 2006 jeep wrangler 4.0 6speed manual

To access the fuse panel the glove box must be removed. It is removed by slipping the glove box strap off the hook and letting the door roll down off its hinges. To reinstall, position the glove box door at an 8 o’clock orientation, engage the hinge hook formations on the lower edge of the glove box door with the hinge pins on the lower edge of the instrument panel. Tilt the upper edge of the glove box door upward toward the instrument panel enough to reattach the glove box strap to the door. Rotate glove box door to closed position. Open and close to insure proper installation.

Lower Glove Box Won't Close

I fixed this in a 2010 Rav4 by lowering the glovebox all the way and finding that the cover to the cabin air filter had fallen off and was jamming the hinge of the glove box. To lower the glove box, pull the glove box side walls inward until the lock tabs clear the sides of the opening and you can rotate it all the way down. Clear whatever is jamming the hinge and rotate the glove box back into position. Be sure the hinge is pushed all the way forward onto the corresponding pin before closing the glove box, otherwise there will be misalignment. There is also a plastic air piston on the right side of the glove box assembly that damps the movement of the glove box. Be sure the piston assembly is secured into the two corresponding locking pins (one on the glove box, the other on the glove box opening) before closing the glove box.

Glove box latch is broken cant open it want to replace it but cant remove it

Guess what? Volkwagen makes you buy the entire glove box assembly, including lock and door in gray, black or beige for around $145. No way to fix the latch because it is encased in sealedand glued plastic. Good luck! Mine just broke, also.
