Do you have the habit of trying to get exactly $30 in it, and top it all the way off as a result? If so, stop it, because liquid fuel may be getting into the evaporative emission system. It's supposed to absorb fuel vapors and then feed them to the engine so they don't escape to the atmosphere, but a big ol' slug of raw fuel up in there is going to totally overwhelm it.
Are you very sure its spitting out gas? If smoke is light in color, you have a blown head gasket-coolant level will drop and you can smell the odor of coolant in the air. If you're sure you have unburned fuel spitting out your exhaust, this is extremely dangerous to everyone around you so don't run it and get it to a shop or reply back to me...
Replace the fuel filter if you have not done that yet. They are not that expensive to have replaced (about $60 for parts and labor) and it can increase engine performance, gas mileage and overall running condition. It would be a good idea to take it back to shop that installed the fuel pump and ask them to check if the fuel pump is properly grounded. If you get chance, can you give a more detailed description of how the car drives? For example, does it run good and low speeds but not at higher speeds, or is it sluggish or idling rough, etc. Thank you
Hi,
The air cleaner mighty be clogged causing insufficient air supply. That is why it runs fine on idle because less air is needed and when the engine demands for more air, there isn't enough.
sounds like your tranny is going out. what i would do is take it to like auto zone and have them do a check on the cars on board comp. if anything is wrong with the car it will give you a error code and a print out what the causes. write back with that code and we can help you better. :)
