The car was parked and the next morning would not start. We concluded that the fuel pump was bad. Replaced the fuel pump and it started for about 5 seconds and will not start again unless u pour fuel direct into carb. Any suggestions on what might be the problem.

Injectors need cleaning, As being left for time its got dirty, Run a fuel system cleaner through the fuel, Or get an professional to clean injectors for you with a high pressure unit.
Before you go any further open the trunk and check the fuel pump roll over valve switch, mounted on the left side inside the trunk, push the switch down and try the vehicle.
it's your upper intake manifold gasket. it has a crack in it and needs to be replaced. your getting to much air and not enough gas. mine did the same thing.
