Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Thats what I think because the car has such low milage 25000km . It normally is only started or driven 1 or 2 times a month . About a week ago my sister started it and it had a bad mis and the lifters & valves are making noise.

Check your oil level. If the oil level is OK, start the engine and let it run. The noise from the lifters will go away after 10 to 15 minutes of idling. The lifters have only "bled down" due to non-use....They just have to pump up again.

First, I HIGHLY recommend you need to STOP adding chemicals to your oil. That stuff does more harm than good. You are going to destroy some very high-dollar parts. If the lifters do not quiet down with running the engine at 2000 rpm after it is warm, then I would recommend getting a professional to listen to it. You could have timing chain problems or broken valve springs. I would really hate to hear that your engine is blown up from tinkering with things.

2010 Tucson Hyundai battery drain somewhere. Changed the battery and alternator and still after sitting for a couple of days it goes dead. Has been in many times for same issue and Hyundai can not seem...

Hi,

we have the same problem. Replaced the battery a month ago and it died yesterday again. The car is at the dealer now. They are trying to blame us for the problem. I have a feeling they know exactly whats wrong, but they are not willing to tell us, since its still under warrenty for 1 month.
Suggestions are;

- the radio might drain your battery, even when its off.
- do you have a homelink? If so, it might be wired the wrong way.

so far thats all i found out by surfing the web.

Poor gas milage?

Thinking you are getting poor gas milage,Your engine is running smooth,no misses,Engine runs smooth while accelerating up a hill, Still poor gas milage, Check your tire pressure. I have a 1999 Chevy Blazer 4x4, 4.3 Ltr. Auto, loaded. I have just over 154000 miles on it,I change my fluids every 5000 miles. Summer driving milage got real bad. I drive a Blazer hard. I tow a 16ft trailor usally loaded to the top with wood. Tires get hot in the summer, while in the winter, they stay mostly cool. Always check your air pressure. Most vehicals are equipted with radials now days, So if you think a tire looks low, check it, Usally they low. Usally in the winter months, nobody checks tire pressure. It really does make a difference. I went from 17.2 MPG to 19.5 MPG, while pulling the same trailor loaded with wood. I cut my own wood then stack it in my trailor to sell. I have Good Year Wranglers size: P235/75R/15 I just replace these with new ones. The old ones are going on my trailor. Counted milage on tires are 65000 Miles. Tires were rated at 40000 miles, Under normal use.

1999 jimmy odometer stopped working

My guess would be a bad connection at the harness for the cluster, or a problem with the printed circuit board inside the cluster.

Check your battery terminals. Take the cables off you battery and clean with a mild solution of baking soda and water. Also check the ground cable and make sure it is attached securely. I had a truck that did the same thing and it was a corrosion problem.

Car started started loosing power and making funny noises 1 month ago, had someone check it out and it was three quarts low on oil! Had oil change done at time, now a month later same thing happened...

excess use of oil is caused by only one thing a badly worn engine or one thats been hammered by a previous owner like a rental car or sales rep ,worn rings and valve guides are the main reasons for oil use ,ps whats a quart ?? whats that in proper measurements like how many litres and do not forget the trunk is called a boot .

Maint required light flashing 10 times when I start a car 2000 acura rl 181000 miles I had a tune-up & oil change 1 month ago, car runs perfect

These happens every "scheduled maintenance" milage. Pretty soon it will come on and stay on.

On a 1999, if you hold in the milage reset buttons and turn on the key to 2nd position, the maintenance light will go out.
