You need to test your charging system circuits at the alternator. (see diagram and instructions)

BLK is the cable to the battery POSITIVE terminal - this is hot at all times.
PINK/BLACK comes from Fuse #5 (15 Amp) in the relay center under the right side of the instrument panel. This wire is hot (battery voltage) with the ignition switch in the RUN, BULB TEST, or START positions.
BROWN comes from your instrument panel and is protected by Fuse #16 (20 Amp) in the instrument panel left side fuse block. This wire will have slightly less than battery voltage with the ignition switch in the RUN, BULB TEST, or START positions.
If any of this is not as described, let me know what you have found and we can continue if needed.

Have a 1990 Ford Econoline Club Wagoner

THE E-150? , IN WHAT COUNTRY AND WHAT ENGINE CHOICE THERE.
3GAS AND 1 DIESEL.
5.8l?
Leece-Neville Alternator????reg on rear or reg on fire wall/fender.
they use 3 types of ALT then, or more.
i sure can not see any of that to be savvy

THE REGULATOR , SIMPLY IS UNPLUGGED
AHHH YOU MODIFIED THE ALT ,WITH NOT TOLD NEW ALT, UNKNOWN.
TO DO THAT TAKES 2 THINGS
1990 SERVICE MANUAL
AND THE SPEC SHEET ON THE NEW WRONG ALTERNATOR, (THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT.)
WELL THE BIG LUG IN THE ALT WIRES TO SAME BIG LUG WIRE,(BATTERY NEG LUG PULLED)
WHAT MATTERS IS REAR JACK ON NEW ALT
HOW TO WIRE IT.
most alts (new) have 3pins , one is charge lamp in cluster ,other is ignition on. power.
some are 2pin alt.
the 1990 some had only a dash AMMETER and no Charge IDDioTT lamp
so only one small wire needs to be run from new (secret) alt to the red/LG wired. to fuse link and IGN switch run pin.
some new alts the 2nd pin is needed to be connect to a charge lamp or there is no bootstrap current to wake up the new alt. (this wire is charge lamp)
no new alt told.
if yes, a resistor at 120 ohms 2 watts jumpering
new alt pin IGN to charger lamp pin pair, works.
this resistor simulates the missing charge lamp./
the newer the alt the more likely the resistor is not needed.
the what car new alt came out of and answers go 10x more easy. and exact.

Replaced the alternator and battery on 98 civic ex, car ran cherry and all of a suddent doesnt want to start, just died on me while driving.

ran cheery, the exhaust ran red hot? LOL.
the engine runs off the alternator not the battery.
so , if the alt is bad,the battery will discharge.
the alt charge lamp glows, did it?

old post,
bad alt, or battery is no good.
try a known good battery , and make sure the
voltage across the battery is 13.3v to 15vdc running.
if not the ALT System is bad, notice I said system.

btw , replaced means nothing to me.
new , used, rebuilt, recycled, , what?

REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR BUT THE BATTERY WILL NOT CHARGE

In this year , there may be an external VOLTAGE
REGULATOR .Instead of an internal regulator inside the alternator. It is usually a square box to the passenger side attached to the fender inside wall. Try replacing this box with a known good one. Or new one if you can get it right away.
