96 explorer starts but dies.If i keep my foot on the gas pedal it stays running. take my foot off and it dies. I found a vacuum hose disconnected and couldnt find where it goes

Hi, this problem can be caused by a broken fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. With the engine running, remove the vacuum line from the regulator. If gas comes out of the regulator at the vacuum port, replace the regulator.

As soon as my 2002 explorer starts it dies. After

ford has problem with idle air control valve
try to start the car next time and keep your foot on the gas pedal lightly
if it does not cut off then that's the problem

did it stay running when connected to the car giving the boost? if so then the alternator is not charging the electrical system, get it serviced or replaced.

My Jeep won't stay running when you turn it on unless you keep your foot on the gas pedal what would cause that would it have anything to do with the altinator

I had the same problem with my 96 Dodge Ram, it would crank up but if you let off the gas it would die. It needs a map sensor!!

Wont hold idle will start with foot depressing gas pedal will run with foot on gas but stalls when foot removed

Check and clean Idle air control valve. Make sure its responding to signal as well. Also make sure ther are no vacuum hoses disconnected. This may not be a "cure" but it's a good place to start.
