After doing a head gasket repair 2001 Chrysler Sebring 2.7 v6 won't start. It makes a noise like growling but does not turn over. My mechanic is saying we may need to rebuild bottom half but makes no sense that it started before. Im out 1500 dollars and still no car. I am leaning towards the idea timing is off. There is no compression. What could it be?

You say that it does not turn over, how would you know there's no compression if it don't turn over, unless you mean if won't start up, lets go with it won't start up, if you have no compression, did you bleed down the lifter's, if you did not, with the lifter pump up will hold the valves open and you will not have compression, will be very hard to start engine, remove lifter and bleed them down, also make sure you replace the oil just in case there's water in the oil pan when heads were removed, if there is water could lock engne, now you would need to overhaul lower engine, hope this was very helpful.

I have a 1997 sebring lxi. It now will not turn over. I sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it turns over. I changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and the relay. What else could it be?

Do you hear the fuel pump coming on normally comes on for approx 10 sec. when you turn key on, if no pump noise fault is still in fuel system, check the fuse and wiring, check for trouble codes, check injectors, etc

How to change and replace valve cover gaskets in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible 2.7L DOHC V6

You first have to remove the ignition coils or plug wires and then remove the bolts holding the cover to the cylinder head. Discard old gasket. Clean gasket channel of any oil and install new gasket to cover taking care during assembly not to disturb gasket when placing cover back on cylinder head. The rear gasket is much harder to change as the upper plenum must be removed to access this cover. You should have some knowledge of engines if you are going to atempt this repair on your own

Rumbling noise coming from engine compartment.

engine size, etc., I can only make educated guesses, but here goes: You stated "My car will drive, but very slow hardly moving". My first suspicion is that you don't have a transmission problem, but the car is in what Chrysler calls the 'limp-home mode'. This occurs when the computer 'sees' a problem with an engine function or sensor that is serious, but not so bad that the car won't run at all. Limp-home mode allows your car to only operate in second gear so that you won't damage it further by driving normally, but won't leave you stranded either. Is your 'check engine' or 'service engine' light on? If not, check to see that it actually works by turning the key 'on', but not starting the car. All the dash lights should be lit for about 3-5 seconds. No matter what, you need to check your transmission fluid level (on a Crysler, should be checked with the engine running and in gear, NOT park or nuetral). Safety first, make sure someone is holding the brake on - please don't ever trust a 'parking brake' for this. If the fluid level is OK and there's no 'check engine' light you need
to visit a competent transmission shop. Probabably a worn front pump, torque converter, or a hung spool valve in the valve body, none of which is generally fixable at home. If you do have a 'check engine' light on, see a regular mechanic first as there is a mechanical problem probably not related to the transmission. Good Luck!

2006 Chrysler sebring High Pitch Noise Screeching Sound

The belt is slipping or the compressor and/or clutch is bad.
If the compressor won't turn freely with the engine off, it may be locked up which will make the belt screech.

I have a 2001 chrysler sebring the starter won't

sounds like your bendix on the starter spring load mechinism gear you will need to test it by removing your starter and hooking up a battery to it. You will see and hear the gear come out and turn...if it doesnt function properly then you will have to replace your starter.also may want to check the solinoid..

2001 Chrysler 300M Engine Light on all the time

Hello, my engine light was on for a VERY LONG time and everytime I got it checked no one could tell me what the problem was because things always checked out fine. The "code" says its a loose gas cap or something, but it wasnt that. My 300M also was having A HARD TIME STARTING UP for about 8 months and leaking coolant for about a month. I finally found a mechanic who knew what he was doing; 1. Leaking Radiator 2. Coolant found in #2 or #3 cylinder. The cause of this was a busted HEAD GASKET. If your 300M has trouble starting and the Engine light stays on have a mechanic check your engine for a busted head gasket and see if all your cylinders are firing correctly. I had to pay $2600 for a new Head Gasket, Radiator and all new hoses plus labor. CRYING!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2001 300M 130K - very well kept. Stuff happens...

Clicking noise under hood of 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Sounds like you have a dead battery. You either need a jump start with jumper box or clean battery terminals and see if that works

Sebring won't start

could be your powertrain control module. Something is draining your battery. I had this problem. Make sure you don't accidentally leave the trunk open (drained 2 batteries this way, then replaced my car with areally expensive battery, but still had a problem. Turned out to be the PCM. IF you have a 2001 2.7L V6, this is located between the air filter housing and the fuse & relay centre. Its that silver heavy duty looking thing strapped in between the air filter housing and the fuse and relay centre. Replacement of this should be done by a qualified mechanic because 1) your airbags will have to be disabled and 2)you will have to make sure that there is no electrostatic discharge - which could damage this little brain system. Good luck
