I have a Suzuki Grand Vitara Diesel 4x4 Sept 2001 51 plate, my engine emission light comes on when it gets about half empty with fuel, fill it up and off it goes. Its been to my local garage twice now they connect to there diagnostic computer and it tells them Fuel Pump Relay problem, they have contacted Suzuki with the code and they have told the garage the code, is for Petrol Engines only, any advice or help would be appreciated, thank you Richard May

I suggest either a "Haynes" or "Chilton" repair manual. They are both very informative concerning complete engine tear down.

it sounds like your timing chain needs replacing. Better get it seem to quick in case of trouble if it breaks.

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any fault codes stored. The check engine light is to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will show what the computer has noted and curb the need for speculation. Most parts stores will perform the scan for free. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Haynes don't cover that engine. I've found a copy of the H25 engine manual which is similar to the H20 engine we have. If you search for SQ416 in google you'll find a copy you can buy or if you're lucky you'll find a free download somewhere like I did!! :-) It has helped me loads.
