You hook up a fuel pressure gauge . No pressure does not mean the fuel pump is bad , could be a electrical problem . Fuel pump relay , A bad crankshaft postion sensor , if the PCM doesn't see an input from the crank sensor it will not energize the fuel pump relay . And Turning on the key to run for 2 seconds will energizes the fuel pump relay to prime the fuel system . An It will prime the system just that quick . Knowing how it works is key to fixing the problem . Testing at the relay . Fuel pump electrical circuit diagnosis no fuel pressure testing GM

Hey there boatright33,
A few things things immediately come to mind.
There may be a problem with the engine controller. You could check the
ODBII onboard diagnostics. Auto part stores will usually do this for
you at no cost.
When you pulled the ones that were/went bad, how did the filters look? Could there be particulate matter still in the tank causing them to fail.
I always put this one off until last. Check the injectors. Are they gummed up?
Let me know what you find out
Mike

I would check the fuel lines themselves and make sure there is no blockage. If not you might want to check your fuel injectors and see if they need to be replaced. also make sure you didnt install fuel filter backwards.
SOURCE: Have installed new fuel pump and gas lines in 1995
pull line off of front of filter and cycle key 2 on position if there is no fuel present your feul pump may b the problem, before replacing old one make sure the fuse is good
