Could be the cooling fan relay, the fuse, the sensor which triggers the cooling fan relay, or the wiring connections which join it all together. Is there power coming to the relay? Is there ground? Will the cooling fan operate if you trigger the relay? Try to break the circuit down in sections, and test a section at a time. If, for example, the fan operates when you trigger the relay, you will need to find out why the sensor is not triggering the relay. Maybe a bad wire? Or a bad sensor? Let us know what you find out. Good luck!

When is the electric cooling fan suppose to come on.

The info I looked at was for v6 engine. The fan turns on at 105c or 221 f. If engine is overheating, I'd want to know, how hot in degrees f?
If you turn on ac, the fan may run? The ccrm controls the fan. Check for applicable cooling fan trouble codes? Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.
It may be possible to use jumper wires from battery to connector that goes to fan, for voltage and ground, just to see if fan will run. If it won't run, suspect fan itself. Just to be safe, you might use inline fuse on jumper.

My coolin fan wont come on wat should I do

Cooling fan is controlled by a relay and a temp sensor. You need to check that each piece is working.
Run power to the fan. fan run? fan ok.
Bridge the relay. Fan run? run power to the relay coil. Fan run? relay good.
find temp sensor. replace.

It is amazing how many questions are here for 1999 Dodge Dakota. This is an electric fan I assume. Try running jumper wires from battery directly to fan motor. Does not run= bad fan motor. Runs= thermostat switch likely bad, or bad fuse or wiring.

Cooling fan wont come on 1989 mercury sable

First jumpering the fan motor to the battery is a bad idea. The fan will always run even if the vehicle is not running. The fan probably draws enough current to drain your battery overnight. To find the wiring diagram you may need to buy a chilton or haynes manual. If you know somebody who works for a ford or mercury dealer they may be able to get you a schematic.

4.1 engine. cooling fan wont come on.How can I test the fan motor? Or is itthe sensor?

disconnect the fan and plug it direct to battery using some jumper wires(speaker wires do fine) and if it runs then there is a problem with a coolant sensor or a cooling fan relay. If it doesn't run, then u need a new fan.

My coolin fan for my engine wont run? how do i fix it? 98 ford mustang gt

okay heres what causes not to kick in,
1 a bad motor
2 bad tempeture sensor
3 bad/defected fuse or relay.
check the fuses and your fan relay first. swap them around to test is every thing well then test the motor dirtectly, if its fine and works, then tempeture sensor on the engine. remove the harness and put a jumper wire on the prongs and what it kick the fan in. have the ign on with engine off for this. if it works replace the sensor.
hope this help you.

My camry 1993 engine is heating up while idling or in traffic also when ac is on. drives well on high speed without overheating

You have a radiator fan motor that is not running either due to a thermostatically controlled temp switch,(Located on the back of the radiator) a failed fan relay (in the engine compartment fuse /relay box) or a bad fan motor.
You can troubleshoot by checking for 12V DC to chassis ground at the fan motor temp switch. If you have power in you can jumper with a wire the switch wires and see if the fan runs. If it does not run then you need to check the fan relay and motor.

To test the fan you can run a wire from the battery to the fan and another wire to chassis ground to see if the fan runs. If after directly connecting 12V DC to the fan motor and it does not run the fan has failed.

As far as the you either replace it with another one or... have to figure out which 2 wires control the fan motor and jumper them out to see if the fan runs.

On my 2000 Jimmy when I'm at low speeds in the city it usually blows quite warm out of the heater (not always). But suddenly it will quit blowing any heat at all. On the highway it just blows cold. The...

Hello. First, it is probably that the clotch in the coolin fan isn't working. When the coolin fluid is warm, the temperatur put it in work, and the fan works rapidly, when the temperatur lows, the clotch loose the fan an is waiting the warm up again. But your Jimmy don't have the coolin fan in the principal belt, it have an electric coolin fan. In that case, your problen is for a low level of coolin water, or the relays of the electric fan don't work properly.
Finaly, my english isn't good, because I speak in spanish, but if my bad english solves your problem, i'm geting so well. I working every day in electronics cars, and that is the basic metod of analyse that I use.

My fans on my air con fail to come on. on my grand cherokee

The coolant fan is run on a relay, which should be the same number as the horn try switching them out, does the a/c work? if the a/c won't engage then fans wont come on,next with engine off can you move the blades by hand? you need to determine if it's the fan or not unhook the fan and using jumper wires hook the fan direct to the battery and see if it runs if it does then check relays and wiring
