Was the speed sensor the only part he changed? Reset the car by unplugging the battery for a few minutes, or you may need to hook a decent diagnostic scanner to it(or get a friend/family member(or any local parts store) to hook up the diagnostic scanner and check it out. Don't worry it's something simple, get your husband to reset the battery and triple check any/all wiring connections related to the sensor he replaced & anything else he may have had to mess with. Seriously, it's something easy, your car is just fine!
try using a scan tool to reset the cpu program in the ECM
removing a battery corrupts that program
it controls everything you mentioned including the immobilizer
as for the radio ,you will need a code to enter as it is the radio anti theft system that has operated when the battery was remove d
Chimes are generated by the radio. Unplugging the radio and then plugging it in can activate the security feature in the radio and is very unwise. You can try resetting it by disconnecting the negative battery wire, then plugging the radio in and reconnecting the battery wire. If that doesn't work, check with a dealer to see if they can reset it, but if the radio has been damaged by what you are doing, you may have to replace it.
scan tool , push reset. or pull battery minus lug. for 5min put back. if you pull the battery lug you will reset ecu reset transmission learn data and reset alarms. can get you stranded fast. reset radio programming. stations sets.and who knows, RTM. that is why the scan tool has a reset, so as not to mess up everything esle.
if you are having radio issues where you have to mess with the fuse to make it work i would say it is the culprit for the battery draw, a lot of radios trigger the eject when power is reconnected for the memory wire, that is not a problem with the radio. try unplugging the radio and see if that fixes the battery draw.
Try to mess with the fade and balance. It's possible you have one or two bad speakers and the radio only has the bad ones getting power.
If you have a remote or can borrow a remote (or have steering wheel controls) try to change the volume with it. Your volume button could be bad on the radio.
Something else you may want to try; first make sure you have your unlock code for the radio! Then remove your radio from the dash. This will take some time but be patient you don't want to break anything. Once out unplug all the wires and wait about 10 min's. This will sometimes reset the radio but if this works it will most likely go back out in due time. This will give you time to get a new radio.
You could try to pull the fuses to the radio instead just make sure you get them all or disconnect the battery for a while. These two may not do anything sense some pcm or ecu have their own battery back up and the radio will use it for it's memory if it can.
Another way to check the speakers is to do a oil lift reset. If I remember right; you can do the reset though the radio and it should chime over the speakers.
Most likely the channels have burnt out and you will need to replace the radio. Stay with an OEM shop ebay.
Just make sure your radio is turned off before removing the battery. If the radio is on and the battery is removed and replaced, the radio may get locked out. This will prompt you to enter and reset code to your radio to have it work again. Good luck and after you battery has been replaced, just reset the radio stations setting and time.
just go to vautozone and they will reset it for you for free, the only problem is than it will come on latter untill you fix the problem, other way to reset it is by unpluging the batterie, just before doing this make sure your radio is not antitheft because you might need a radio code in order to have your radio working again after unplugin the batterie
