Number 5 ignition coil on 2006 ford expedition

Need to replace All the spark plugs,All the coils
& All the oxygen sensors,clean the maf sensor

Usually with all the cylinder misfires from bad coils,
your exhaust converters are ruined

Remove a spark plug and see if its wet with gasoline....it could be flooded.

All Fords with individual COP Ignition Coils
have continual coil failures for the last 14 years

Now all almost all vehicles worldwide use that system
& have some issues

Fords just have some unwritten coil related ones

You can't not always go by codes & I have recently had my
professional scan tool software, be of no use, on my
lincoln LS

the number one cylinder is the front cylinder on the passenger side. Those cylinders are 1-2-3-4

the drivers side cylinders are 5-6-7-8

5.4 Liter? If so you should have a coil on plug ignition. Pull the number 5 coil and check for spark. If there is no spark swap it with number 1. If there us still no spark than replace the coil.

i am almost positive it is the 3rd from the left on driver side of engine

Sounds like one of the ignition coils are bad.

There is no cap and rotor, as the vehicles igntion system is DIS (digital ignition system). The recommended tune-up on these motors require sparkplug and coil replacement. The coil type in this vehicle is COPs (coil over plugs). Usually moist and oxidation develope on the sparkplug chamber walls from faulty or worn coil boots. This causes the coil to short, they must be replaced at 75,000 miles at the same time the sparkplugs are replaced. Typical symtoms are: Vehicle stalls (restarts and runs normal), intermitted jerks/sputter while driving, misfires, rough idle, severe power loss. Hopefully this helps
