I had the car in storage for 35 days. Upon startup, battery was dead. I took the dead battery out(only 1 year old) and put in a good battery which started the car, while the car was running good I took out the good battery and put the dead battery back in. when i unhooked the good battery to put back in original battery the car's engine started to rev up and down by itself and and the engine light and tcs light came on. Also, the temp guage went all the way past the H. This took place in all of 2 min running time. I turned the car off, turned it back on and now it revs up and down while it's idling and when it is in drive it revs higher than normal and basically accelerates on its own. I tried unhooking the battery leads and putting them back with the car off. It has not fixed this problem. Also, when the engine is cold i turn the ignition to the on position the temp guage goes past the H without even starting the car. Note: the car was working fine before it was put in storage. I feel this all started when I took off the battery leads while the car was running. I was told by a friend/mechanic that I should have not done that when the engine was running and it may have made the computer go nuts. Please help me if you can!! Steven Clarke

You recycle the old dead battery

Have no idea why you even put that back in

Common sense & your friend is correct

You don't disconnect anything on today's
vehicles, even with the key on

Put in a new battery, start the car, warm it up
& drive it for awhile & maybe you will get lucky
& it will complete some of the drive cycles & run some
monitors ,you know nothing about & it will be fine

If not, your mechanic friend should be about to stop
by with the bosses scan tool & help you out

NO CAR TOLD YEAR,MAKE OR MODEL NOR VIN#
BATTERY IS DEAD. WHY AND HOW WHO KNOWS?
WE CHARGE THEM USING A TOOL CALLED CHARGER

AND IF THAT FAILS TO MAKE OLD BATTERY CRANK ENGINE
THE BATTERY IS REPLACED. NOW.

EML IS CALLED CEL.SES AND MIL LAMP
IN ENGLISH IT IS CHECK ENGINE LAMP.
IT JUST STARTS SO THERE IS THE 1 KEY TEST DONE.
WHEN IT STARTS AGAIN
WE WHIP OUT THE OLD DMM,VOLT METER.
AND CHECK BATTERY LUGS FOR 13 TO 15VDC AT IDLE
BELOW 13VDC THE ALTERNATOR IS DEAD OR ITS FUSES BLOWN.

THERE ARE 6 CAUSES OF NO CRANKS.
FUSE] BLOWN
BATTERY DEAD (IT IS)
KEYSWITCH BAD (ST PIN)
PRNDL SWITCH BAD (AKA. PARK NEUTRAL SWITCH)
CRANK IN NEUTRAL NOW, DOES ENGINE START?
STARTER RELAY BAD
STARTER BAD.
OR ANY WIRE ABOVE CONNECTED.

OR BAD BATTERY CABLES OR LUGS LOOSE OR RUSTY.
THE BATTERY WILL BE DEAD IF ALTERNATOR FAILS
OR ITS BELT IS LOST OR SLIPS OR ALTERNATOR FUSES BLOWN
MOST CARS IF ALT FAILS AND WE DRIVE 30 MINUTES AND ENGINE DIES, FOR DEAD BATTERY./ NIGHT TIME LESS.
AT IDLE THE DAYS CHARGE/BATTERY LAMP MUST NOT GLOW.
IP CLUSTER LAMP

always store cars with battery float charger attached,
the car has no 120vac power, unless fitted with an inverter.
the Car is dead
the Engine is dead. (ill run the list that you forgot)
the engine will not crank
the cluster is dead.
the headlights on USA car can turn on with NO KEY AT ALL
a safetly LAW here.
so the head lamps are dead. this A KEY FACT here.
if HL are dead the fuses main are blown or pulled by the smart guy that parked it long term.
FUSES ! or battery is NO GOOD.
no charger sold can tell you if a battery is good ever.
on a full load tester can you do that, puts a 100amp load on the battery and then if over 10v , the battery may be good
call AAA and they will do all this, easy as pie. call tow.

I charged my batterie because it was dead from winter storage and as soon as it was charged and put back on I have had nothing but troubles with my alarm system going off even when driving, what is the...

I would have the battery tested to see if it has a dead cell first . Some times this will happed especasly if its over 4 or 5 years old and if it was left on a cement floor during storage witch will conduct electricty and damage the battery If the cells are OK in the battery then start checking the connections to the battery bolth posivite and negitive to the battery . If it worked before storage there is realy no reason it shouldn't work after storage . Also look for mice damage the little bastards will eat anything in the winter including the jackets off your wires so look for signs of then Good luck with it

Several years in storage without being started would be a problem on the battery, even disconnected. I'm sure a jump would start the car but I doubt the battery would hold a charge. How old is the battery? If it were 2-3 years old already it's probably at the end of it's life anyways.

assuming no electrical components work, try a newer battery or hooking the old one to a charger and letting it charge up for a while. batteries will still discharge when disconnected.

Battery on a porsche boxster is dead will not start up

If the battery is VERY dead it may take quite a while jump start the car. You may have to run the car with the good battery for five or ten minutes to get enough charge in the old battery to start the car. Other wise a very dead battery will just "soak up" the electricity from the good battery. If your battery was old to begin with it may be unserviceable. I would take the battery out and take it to an auto parts store that can charge and test it. They will usually do this for free.
