I was driving my 2002 mitsubishi galant the other day (it has an automatic transmission and as we were going from a stop light it started to run but all of a sudden the car lost power. It still runs but the transmission would not engage at all no matter which gear I put it on DTC code on it is P0732 - Gear 2 incoorect ration. What is the most likely cause of this, bad sensor, solenoid, PCM or transmission?

SOURCE: when does one engage the ''L'' gear when driving a mitsubishi rvr c

the L gear is Gear # 1 and likewise 2 is second gear, you utilise this in case you are going down on a slop especially icy or snow condition all it does is runs just on 1 or 2 respectively without changing whichh gieves more traction on the road.

SOURCE: transmission delayed engagement at cold start

Depending on how Cold it is where you are, The cold will effect the Operation of the Tranny. I am pretty sure that your Tranny is Fine, Just Really Cold. Depending also on where you live, I use Valvoline Quick Change to service my Vehicles when I am on the Road. Have never had a Problem with them. On the Fluid, They make so many Different Kinds now adays that it is hard to Choose. Look in the Back of your Owners Manual and Use what is Suggested in there.

SOURCE: 2001 mitsubishi galant,2.4L eng. Getting DTC 421.

DTC code P0421 is the O2 sensor that indicates a an issue with the Catalytic Converter. Replace the O2 sensor to the Catalytic Converter "the one after Converter" It's common for the sensor to fail and you can pick one up from Auto Zone and they will have the step by step instructions to replacing the O2 sensor.
DTC code P0302 Indicates a misfire on cylinder #2. Address the spark plug, spark plug wire, and injector. Look for any damages and try running some fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system to clean out the injectors.
Good luck and hope this helps.

If automatic transmission, it may be transmission fluid. Lots of cars have the transmission cooler in the radiator.

Automatic transmission frozen

U can't shift it out of park because the battery is dead, park is locked until the brak lights are activated (no power no lights), this 12 volt brak light signal un-locks the park solenoid.
