My honda civic ex 2002 a/c system stopped working. My dad is a mechanic and took a look at it. Compressor is spinning, fan comes on only for a split second after turning on the ignition. We retrieved a DTC through a self diagnostic function. It detected problem in the blower motor circuit. It is not the transistor/resistor or the panel's climate control unit because replacing them did not fix the problem. The blower motor is not getting ground based on what my dad was saying but when he grounds it independently it works. Do you have any idea of what else I should do?

I would check o2 sensors but to tell you the truth my dad bought a new thermostat that was suppose to open at 160 degrees his temp. got to 220 degrees before but check o2 senors and thermostat
with your description it sounds like your fans are not coming on, also sounds like the problem was never solved, sounds like you threw a lot of money at your problem also... check to see if the fans are coming on at the right times, seems like a n air movement over the radiator since you say it only gets hot in stop and go traffic... well when your driving at a constant highway speed guess what you have air movement through the radiator... check also a clogged ac condensor with bugs, pressure wash it out so the air can pass through it easily... please rate my help thanks
I have a 2002 Honda Civic Ex, it has been over heating but only in stop and go traffic, never on the freeway, i have replaced, timing belt, water pump, cooling fan relay, cooling fan switch, flushed radiator. There is no white smoke coming from the tail pipe and the oil is clean, when the car gets hot i can smell the coolant pretty strong, car has never completly overheated gets about 3/4 of the way til red.
I would try recharging the system. if the recharge doesn't produce could air, this will confirm a compressorfailure.Inspect the clutch function. the AC clutch should click when it is engaging the compressors actions.
The high pitched whine in reverse sounds normal for a honda. Ever honda I have had makes a similar noise while in reverse. The spinning, scraping noise in drive is not normal. You might want to see a mechanic about that.
