My car was toyota 1999 camry.it stop because timing belti and wterpump broken.I replaced timing belt and water pump (the number one piston at TDC position and use one nail on the pully timing mark hole then to match timing mark on the engine).I started car but car could not start,the second time I turn the ignition key to start meantime I push the gas pedal,it souns like to start but engine stop right away.I did the number one piston TDC and timing mark on the pully to match the mark on the engine .then I turn cramshaft 2x360(2 round) .the TDC at right position but pully timing mark not on the engine mark.two mark about 1.5 teet(timing belt) distance.please tell me what is wrong and how to fix.what special tool or parts need to replace.

If the engine is an interference type (most are these days) there will almost certainly be a few bent valves when the timing belt breaks and possibly worse damage. Once you have verified the problem and gone as far as you can towards locating and diagnosing the likely faults the cylinder head will have to be replaced for further examination.
There should be no need to manually identify tdc of the timing cylinder (usually at the timing belt end but not always) as the manufacturer usually provides accurate timing marks. I would guess you need to read a bit about engines in general and about your engine specifically.
Firstly the no.1 piston should be at TDC (compression).
The upper camshaft sprocket has a smaller hole in the web. This should be lined up exactly with the TDC timing mark behind it on the cam bearing cap. In this position it will be vertically upwards.
At the same time the notch in the crankshaft pulley timing flange should be opposite the 0 degrees mark on the timing marks on the front of the lower belt cover.
These are jobs I wouldn't advise a person not qualified to do.Sorry to say that.The first thing you have to do before you remove the timing belt is to study and see if you can identify the marks.Its been a long time I worked on a Camry but I still remember there is a mark on the cam gear that should be at 12 o'clock then number one is firing.The crank sprocket also should have a mark or you can use the one on the timing cover aliening with the crank pulley mark.
Caution
If you fitted the belt in a wrong way,the valves might hit the piston and cause damage.I would suggest you remove the belt,spark plug and tappet cover.Put a screw driver in the spark plug hole and ask someone to turn the engine slowly and carefully until the piston is half way.If there is restriction,turn in a different direction.Then turn the cam gear until number 4 valves rock.If they do,look carefully on the cam gear and you will be able to see a dot that should line with a certain mark behind the gear if am not mistaken.
Then tern the engine observing the screw driver movement.Only stop when it stops going up and thats your tdc.Again,search for mark on the block that should line with the mark on your sprocket.
Also make sure that the rotor on the distributor is pointing at number one.

check the timing belt it may not been install correctly out of timing make sure the engine is TDC (TOP DEAD CENTER) . Some cases if the belt is not tensioned right it would slip out of timing.
To put at TDC, on the transmission housing, where it bolts to engine block, will have a rubber plug, remove and align pre diagram, there are for stander or automatic transmission, the one where you can see the flywheel is stander, or you could align the crankshaft pulley, hope this was very helpful.
If your timing belt broke while driving, there WILL be engine damage. Valves will not be moving in response to your pistons continuing to move. I hope that it is not your timing belt. Check your ignition module, first, that's easier.
IF IT IS A 4 CYLINDER U CAN SEE THE WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE(TO THE LEFT OF THE OIL FILTER IN THE TIMING BELT AREA.V6 IS UNDER THE TIMING COVER.EITHER WAY IF THE WATER PUMP IS LEAKING.REPLACE IT BEFORE IT DAMAGES THE TIMING BELT
Pull #1 spark plug and rotate the engine until you hear air rush out of the cylinder, (plug the hole with your finger if you can), then look at the timing mark, it will be close to TDC
It is very possiable he make a mistake installing the belt and is trying to get you to pay him to repair his fuc.. up, don't fall for it, ask him why there wasn't an issue before he worked on it?? I am not sure about weahter that engine is free wheeling, I know earlier models were not, my own personnel expeariance on friends 4 cyl Camry
