Dash lights My dash battery light came on & has been on for several months. The battery went dead several times so I replaced it & now the dash light remains on. The battery seems to be doing fine but should I be concerned - can I easily reset the dash so it doesn't come on.

This can often be caused by a dead spot on the dash light illumination control (rheostat) - cycle the control several times to see if that fixes the problem.

I believe your alternator is bad as well. Your computer will start turning off any aux. power (dash lights, stereo...) to keep the motor running which means battery isnt being maintained by the alternator.

It sounds like you just have a defective battery, new sealed batteries do this exact thing. I have had this happen on my personnel cars and trucks about 5 times over the years. Also make sure the battery cable are clean and free of corrosion.

Have an auto electrician check out the wiring of the car. there could be a short somewhere in the wiring

check your terminals n make sure they are tight,also just because the battery is 6 mo. old dosen't it isn't already junk,check it too

all inside lights and dash lights out.sound like dead battery check battery volts should be 12.6 volts.check make sure battery cables and battery terminals free clean from acid corrossion.

INTERMITTENT BATTERY DRAINS ARE HARD TO FIND. TURN OFF ALL SWITCHES IN THE VEHICLE. MAKE SURE THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT LITE IS GOING OUT. OPEN THE HOOD. CLOSE ALL THE DOORS. MAKE SURE ALL OF THE COURTESY LITES ARE GOING OFF. DISABLE ANY UNDER THE HOOD LIGHTS. REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. USE A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT, FASTEN ONE END TO A GOOD GROUND, { METAL PART OF THE MOTOR} . FASTEN THE OTHER END TO THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL OF THE BATTERY. IF THE TEST LIGHT LIGHTS UP THERE IS A BATTERY DRAIN. IF NO LIGHT , NO DRAIN. IF THE LIGHT IS ON LOOK IN THE FUSE/RELAY BOX NEAR THE BATTERY. PULLOUT THE FUSES, LARGE & SMALL ONE AT A TIME, IF THE LIGHT STAYS ON PUT THE FUSE BACK IN TRY THE NEXT FUSE. WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT, THAT IS THE CIRCUIT CAUSING THE DRAIN. IF IT NEVER GOES OUT, DISCONNECT THE ALTERNATOR. IF THAT MAKES THE LIGHT GO OUT, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ALTERNATOR. IF THE LIGHT IS NEVER ON, YOU MAY HAVE TO DO THIS ANOTHER DAY TO FIND THE DRAIN.

There could be several reasons for your problem:

1. Check your connections for tightness and corrosion. A corroded battery cable/post will diminish the current going to the dead battery.
   
2. Check jumper connections
3. Dead battery; the worse off the battery is, the more time it will take to charge the battery sufficiently enough to start the car; a completely dead battery with bad cells will never recharge sufficiently enough to hold a charge and start the car on a regular basis

Your alternator is dead/dying. Nissan puts both of those lights on to tell you that the alternator isn't charging your battery.
