I have a 2003 Chevy venture van acts as if a brake is sticking, my husband redone the brakes about three months ago. Today it will hardly move. I have to give it alot of gas to move it at all now. When I push on the gas it starts to move, but makes almost a grinding noise, so i"m staying home today, due to it not running correctly

SOURCE: my abs light stays on 1995 chevy G20 van

I'd be checking the sensor (ABS) at that wheel, (right front) and adjusting rear brakes to proper clearance, as well as inspect them for proper operation with wheels off.

SOURCE: 95 G20 Chevy van: ABS light stays on, pulls right when braking

You actually have two separate problems. The brake pull to the right is indicating the left side brake is not working properly. You will want to remove the left front wheel, collapse the caliper piston and make sure the caliper is floating freely on its mounts.
With the piston collapsed you should be able to slide the caliper inboard and outboard of the rotor. If not, you will want to remove the attachment pins, clean and lubricate the pins. If they are grooved or worn you will have to replace them.
The second issue of the ABS light is indicating the system has detected an electrical sensing or control problem. Take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto and ask them to scan the vehicle for trouble codes. They will scan it for you at no charge.
Chances are you will find a wheel speed sensor problem at one of the wheels.
Write the codes down and respond back, we can start diagnosing the problem,
Good luck, let me know.

SOURCE: 05 chevy venture consuming 2 qts of oil every 500

Be sure to check, or have checked, the PCV system which can also contribute to excessive oil consumption, if plugged or malfunctioning.

Which way do i loosen bolts on a 2003 chevy venture van up or down when doing left front brakes

There are very few bolts on a vehicle that use a reverse thread and they are usually very specialist parts.
Set your ratchet to the correct direction you want and you will turn the bolt in the correct direction.
Clockwise is in, Anti-clockwise is out!

My 2003 chevy venture is "clunking" from the back

I don't think it would be so much the rear end problem. Either they are using are really cheap made wheel bearings or you have a caliper sticking which means the system may have air in the system or some sort of defective caliper. The same problem should not be returning unless the same part is being used such as a caliper. Also, you could have some bad bushings some where in the rear that cause a shift when applying brakes. Sorry I can't give any other help. It's easier to hear and see to help better. Good Luck

2003 Chevrolet Venture Cruise control does not work anymore. I've checked both fuse boxes, all are ok. What now? Repair shop. Anyone have this problem and was able to fix it?

I read everybody's replies. Brake lights. Who would think? Before I read this, I ran my 2002 Venture all over at various speeds yesterday. The Cruise Control would not work - no matter what. Today, I had my wife tap the brakes and both lights and the roofline light lit up. I drove the van down the street and engaged the Cruise Control. It worked like new. Weird, huh? Very cold here 12/11/16 in Southeast Ohio. Maybe it was the cold weather and because I had not used it for a few months? Thanks for the answers. This is a GOOD SITE!!! JACK

Gear stick gets stuck

Check to see if the brake lights are working. If not, it is very likely that the brake switch has pitted or burned contacts. This circuit also controls the solenoid in the steering column to relase the gear shift. It is a safety feature so you (or a child) can't put the van in gear w/o having your foot on the brake. Look up under the dash and you can see the white/black switch and its plug attached just in front of the brake pedal lever. The switch simply twists out and unplugs. Note the depth of the switch by marking it with a pencil so that when you replace it, you maintain the same distance (too close and it won't be able to open; too far away and it won't be able to close properly).

It is a very cheap part and easy to replace. BTW the switch itself pops apart and can be made to work temporarily by using an emory board or sandpaper to clean the metal contacts. ALSO if this isn't your particular problem, you can use a small screwdriver to pop open the little plastic insert on the top of the steering column near the gear shift. Push down on the inner piece to manually release the solenoid and get the van in gear.

Hope this helps.
