Car wont turn on *not battery*

have a load test done on the batteries
check for bad grounds and dirty battery posts and terminals

16 years old. The clicking is a starter failing to function

I'm not a car mechanic, but, it sounds like you might want to check the fuse to the ignition switch, and, if that fails, it might be a problem with the Start Safety Switch on the transmission. Good luck.

You didnt list the type of car this is, the most common thing that causes this is the starter, i just had a saturn, the customer had the same problem we told her it may be the starter but cant be 100% sure until it actted up, she didnt want to replace it unless we were sure, so we kept and drove the car around for 5 days and finally the last day it didnt start and it was the starter , same problem turn key and nothing no noise and no start, i would have the starter replaced and go from there, its a mater of time before the car just wont start,hope this is helpful.

try key in door,unlock/hold over,windows will go down,then lock/hold over,windows will go up,then press/hold unlock button on remote for 30 secs,this will reset immobiliser.

try a jump and see does it solve your problem sounds like the batter is drained

Charge your battery then have your alternator checked

hi you have a problem with its immobilizer system when you take the battery lead off you are resetting its system then somethings over time is causing it to go down again either sort it out or dissconnect it yates210456
