2004 Kia Optima has 3 check engine lights on for the following codes - 0741, 0455, 1529. Is this safe to ignore, or how soon to have serviced? Car runs fine, except when stopping for lights, then it kind of skips like it's about to stall but it stays running while I'm waiting for light to change and then accelerates normally. Also, car has hard time starting after fueling, but starts fine at all other times. Don't know if this is related to any of these codes, or just a dirty fuel filter.

HI there i will try to help .
first code P0741= transmission torque converter is stuck in the off bastion .
1. Check your transmission fluid level to see if low or might need replacing.
2.You might have a Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve.
3.If you can check Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness or connectors
4.If you can check Torque converter solenoid valve circuit to see it is open or shorted.
But first check your trans fluid '''

2 codeP0455=evaporative emission system leak detected .
1. check your fuel cap and mack shore it is on tight before replacing .

3.Code P1529= check T C M it might be do to code P0741.
1.Fix first code P0741and P0455 and clear codes and see if code P1529
comes back.

good luck ziggyone

Replaced gas cap, but still have issue with not starting easily after getting gas. Have a new gas filter on order (this car has the filter inside the tank but there's an access panel in the trunk to it). This morning the check engine light had gone off just by sitting overnight, but I'll still try your suggestions as I still have the issues I described in my question.

Is this an automatic? P1527, Basically, the tcm is telling the pcm to turn on the lite. You could have tranny problems? Could be issue with transmission range sensor? I saw a service bulletin, kt2007020701, that is a relearn procedure, if the pcm--tcm or transmission has been replaced. I don't know if relearn will help or not?

My kia is a 2004 optima. I started it and it turned off. And when i started again it turned on but my check engine light was on... whats wrong with my kia..

Read this please concering the check engine light.

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon or small picture of an engine) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

My check engine light keeps coming on on my 2004 kia optima lx, 4 cylinder dohc, a little over 92000 miles on it. I had the codes checked and got this result: Code P0320 definition: ignition/distributor...

Check with the place that checked the codes for you. Maybe they can test the IG sensor for you. That might help. Otherwise check all the connections relating to the sensor.

replace your gas cap and clear codes, then wait and see if light comes back on, if it does you have a more serious problem like a fuel tank leak or a defective fuel tank pressure sensor.

Take the car back to the dealer (hope you purchased it from a dealer). If not plug in an obd II code reader to the diagnostic port. As for the possible flood damage you can check on carfax.com enter the vin and see if it has been reported.
