1. Check your transmission fluid level to see if low or might need replacing.
2.You might have a Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve.
3.If you can check Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness or connectors
4.If you can check Torque converter solenoid valve circuit to see it is open or shorted.
But first check your trans fluid '''
2 codeP0455=evaporative emission system leak detected .
1. check your fuel cap and mack shore it is on tight before replacing .
3.Code P1529= check T C M it might be do to code P0741.
1.Fix first code P0741and P0455 and clear codes and see if code P1529
comes back.

Thank you ... I will try these things and let you know if any worked.
Replaced gas cap, but still have issue with not starting easily after getting gas. Have a new gas filter on order (this car has the filter inside the tank but there's an access panel in the trunk to it). This morning the check engine light had gone off just by sitting overnight, but I'll still try your suggestions as I still have the issues I described in my question.

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.
When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon or small picture of an engine) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.
