You first have to retrieve fault codes from your computer network then you have to diagnose the systems/circuits indicated by the fault codes to determine what the cause of the failure is, then you must repair the system/circuit at fault and then reset the computer system. If the dealer cannot do this, I don't know who can. Did they tell you what fault codes they were getting? If so, we can look up the troubleshooting charts for those codes as well as do a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) search to see if this is a known problem with a known fix. Without the codes, your guess is as good as mine.
I agree with the above poster that you should never "just reset" (and ignore the error message)...
Having said that...
I was able to reset the error message on my 2005 XC90 by doing the following:
1. place key in ignition
2. turn to first click
3. push odometer reset button
4. (within a few seconds) turn key to second position while keeping odometer button pushed down
5. after a few seconds, service light will flash - release odometer button on second flash
6. turn off ignition
7. turn ignition back on to check...1. put key in, turn to position 1
2. hold down
Good luck!
