Toyota Landcruiser 4.2lt diesel OR 3lt turbo diesel prado

What would be more efficient and fuel economy wise when towing a maximum gross weight of 2700kgs all over australia (keeping to sealed roads)

The cruiser as long as its the turbo diesel, direct injection (4.2td), be aware though that this model has inherent "sag" with the IFS suspension, so if buying secondhand then upgrade the torsion bars(and factor this into your buying price).

fuel consumption depends largely on load , speed , operating conditions , towing, highway/city, off road so an exacting answer is not possible as it all depends on the operator and the driving skills

Check that the intercooler is in good condition (no cracks or leaks) and the hoses are tight at the hose clamps . Next talk to a diesel pump repair specialist as you may have to re-tip the injectors and re-calibrate the pump for the extra air that the turbo produces. Check that you have the correct turbo for the diesel
