I have an automatic 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Turbo Diesel and I recently had to use the 4L on the 4x4 but when I went to take it out of 4L the lever would not move. Is there any way to troubleshoot the problem, and if not how much would a repair cost?

Check the fuel pressure

HD 5.9L (360) SMPI V8 "MAGNUM"
Horsepower: 245 @ 4000 RPM
Torque: 345 @ 3200


5.9L (359) HO I6 CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL
Horsepower: 245 @ 2700 RPM
Torque: 505 @ 1600 - 2700 RPM

check for seized turbo blade actuator , rotten hoses or solenoid problem for turbo
run fault codes

chech to make surew the hoses are on the turbo if they come off you will loose the turbo.

The tuff part is getting to the nuts that clamp the exhaust housing to the exhaust manifold. You may need to modify (heat up and bend) some wrenches to get them all off. Be sure to prime the new turbo before running it.

I had the same problem on a 94 dodge with the cummins. It seems the crank sensor that reads from a notch on the harmonic balancer was the problem Without this sensor reading that the engine is running the alternator wont charge. Possibly the same problem with yours
