Always use care when dealing with an air bag,, remove the neg battery terminal,, then the positive, wait 10 minutes for the system to reset , the trick here is hooking it back up, before you do that ,, check all the connections again , make sure they are all tight and aligned,, if so,, Hook up the Positive cable first ,, then the neg one , the light should have cleared, if by chance it doesn't,, your going to have to go to someplace with a OBD code checker,, Lots of places do this for free, so shop around,, and have them clear the code, if it shows up after that , something in the system is wrong, and you'll need to check that before proceeding

I have airbag warning light on it flashes once followed by nine flashes then stays on. How do I fix

Guess, wild guess, that your airbag is not functional? Maybe you should do a scan to your car's computer..
A general warning, whe any of those light turns on and you can't find any explanation, is to do a computer scan.

Airbag light

You can unhook your battery for 15min. which should reset your airbag light. If it keeps coming on it is very possible it is the airbag clock spring which is located in the steering column causing the airbag light to come on. These are known to go out and cause the light to come on. The steering wheel has to be removed with a steering wheel puller to replace this part. This repair should be performed by a qualified mechanic. I had the same problem with my 05 Grand Caravan and the clock spring fixed the problem.

The airbag light on our 97 bmw came on a couple days ago and won't go out

1st when the airbag light is on the system is disabled, so if u have an accident they will not work, as to the common cause read below.
When the airbag light is on it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called th clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the wheel

Why won't by airbag light turn off?

Usually the light is telling you there is a problem in the system and the system is disabled.
You may need to get the computer scanned for codes and go from there.

What's involved in replacing muti functional turn singnal switch 1991 park ave head lights won;t come on at all beleive that switch is bad??

Fortunately your 1991 Buick is pre-steering wheel airbag...you will need to remove the steering wheel to gain full access to the "smart stick" Not to difficult with the correct puller...on loan from most parts stores...Hope this helps.

Why does my air bag light turn on after i tunr my car on ? is this dangerous ?

The clocks-spring has nothing to do with a clock in the dash, it is a part behind the steering wheel that connects the airbag in the steering wheel (along with the horn and other steering wheel controls) to the rest of the vehicle.

The clock-spring is actually a long wire tape wound up in a round holder. It's designed to allow the wheel to turn without losing contact between the steering wheel and the rest of the vehicle. With all of the turning, sometimes the wires inside will start to break apart, which could be the problem causing the light to come on, but it could also be something else, too.

Take it to the dealer for this problem to diagnose it and repair. I wouldn't trust an airbag issue to someone who might not know what they're doing.

Also, ask them if they can help you at all with it since it only has 27,400 miles, even though it's out of warranty by time. They may not, but it never hurts to ask. If they say they can't, then you could still call Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997 and ask them if there's anything they can do to help you. Again, the answer may be no, but it never hurts to try.

------------
If it's sensing weight in the passenger seat, it will show the airbag off symbol, which is a picture of a person in a seat with an X through a circle that represents the airbag. This indicator is above the A/C and heater control knobs, if that's the light that's coming on, it's from the purse being in the seat.

The airbag light under the speedometer (next to the left turn signal indicator arrow) is the main airbag system light. It's a picture of a person sitting in a seat with a circle representing the airbag. If this is the light that's on, it's detecting a problem with the system.

Airbag light stays on

When the Airbag light (SRS waring) is on or blinks it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the Airbag system. The most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted Airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called the clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the steering wheel while maintaining a mechanical connection to the airbag mounted on the steering wheel, to replace this part you must disarm the airbag system and remove the steering wheel, this requires a special steering wheel puller tool and that you disarm the Airbag system before you start the work, to do this disconnect the battery negative cable for 1/2 hour prior.

Air bag light is blinking

Guys! Are you readying your airbag system after messing around with your truck?

I've seen airbag lights come on for man reasons, faulty sensors, connections, replacing RADIOS! Removing seats!! All sorts of reasons. Personally I bought my QX56 with the airbag light blinking. Drove me crazy for 24 hours till I decided to reset it n see what happened. It takes two minutes to do. No tools.

1. Turn key from off to on. (on meaning all your dash lights are on but your not cranking the motor)

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.
