I replaced the AC compressor on my 2003 envoy and had to remove the alternator. When I put it back together it will not idle when ac is on. I tried to unhook battery to reset the computer but still the same problem. Any ideas?

Alot of GM products you need to drive a little to reset the idle air control..If that dont help you may have a stuck idle air control which is located around the throttle body

Go to autozone website. Make a free account, put in the year, make and model, look for the free repair guides. If you are having trouble with the alternator though, I am very concerned about you working on the AC
There is a known problem with the bearing on the AC compressor going out. I had to replace my compressor due to this. However it is possible to replace just the bearing, but takes some know how.
Removing from bottom is not possible, too many things in the way. If you remove the alternator, the belt pulley and the engine hoist bracket, the compressor should come out the top.

Sounds like ac compressor is dragging.It might be that rpm is to low also.Step on the accelarator and if you have a tach bring rpm up to 700 to 800 in drive which is were it should run with ac on. With ac off rpm should read around 600 in drive.
alternator needs good battery to keep SCR in the regulator on if it is loaded it will shut down. this will happen when you try rolling window down or rear defog will load up the system. When the truck is running and battery is hooked up the vehicle should run at @700 RPM at idle and when A/C compressor is commended on it should idle up to @1000 RPM and then back down to @700 RPM when compressor cycle off again. But if the system almost stalls then the battery and alternator should be changed together, A bad battery will damage a new alternator and a bad alternator will damage a new battery.
try turning up the idle ajustment screw also have alternator checked, another solution would be to have your car tuned up weak spark from your coil worn plugs wires etc. not enough power is being produced
